Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2013

Oz Schools is nearly always lacking tall timber, who are robust. Greg Peterson in 2009 and Rob Simmons before him were the last two good tall ones at the schools level (who weren't stringbeans, I mean) I can remember - though Tom Staniforth last year at 104kgs, and tall enough, played a heavy...

New Zealand vs Australia - Bledisloe 2, 24th August 2013

On Gregor Paul's article: I can't say that one can take exception to the general thrust of the content. I'm galled to say that it isn't too far off the mark. I said in my comments on Bledisloe One - that we have the players to challenge the All Blacks but they don't have the same rugby...

Selection politics and bias, Gold Squads unfairness etc.

Sorry for capitals but … PLEASE STOP USING THIS THREAD TO TALK ABOUT GOLD SQUADS AND THE LIKE GENERALLY. THIS THREAD WAS SET UP TO DISCUSS SELECTION BIAS IN SCHOOLS REP TEAMS AND UNFAIRNESS IN SELECTION FOR GOLD SQUADS, AND SIMILAR. TAKING THE BIAS AND UNFAIRNESS ELEMENTS OUT OF GENERAL...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2013

Guys, please click on the "Report" button when idiots like The Mexican Border appear in the forum, so they can be attended to. The idiots are mostly young kids who want to cause mischief. As one who did his share of mischief in his young days I understand such immature kids. But please click...

Excellent post. More please, it will lift the standard of the forum as we sometimes get bogged down in matters other than what happened of the park. .

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

I thought it was a joke but wasn't 100% sure. Sandell stands out from the others because of the reason in your criticism of the "fellow piggies". It's why he has been chosen for the Oz Schools Ones side for the second year. People criticise the Joeys Ones for using forwards who could (mostly)...

    Rebels 2014

    Not 2014, but how about Christian Leali'ifano in 2015? www.espnscrum.com/australia/rugby/story/195347.html .

    Rebels 2014

It would be terrific for the Rebels to get big Paulie - he's a great lad - but as a player he has been injury-prone in the last few years. As a coach he might need an interpreter though: his speech is pure Limerick. On Seymour - he's a goodish player but he's literally a journeyman - a man...

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2013

RM - you have named 24 players (excluding Walker). Sorovi is in the main team, as is Sa'aga (who was captain of Victoria, but not Oz A), so that makes 22, but you omitted Tufui (who is not injured) which adds up to 23. .

Agree - I can see why angrydog reacted like an angry dog, but can also see why random2 was puzzled at his reaction. But the last two posts explained things. Nothing untoward here. .

    Brumbies 2013

Well done to the Brumbies, especially as they were mainly 15s players playing 7s as Larkham mentioned. Was surprised that Oosthuizen was in a Sevens side at 120 kgs and close enough to 2 metres tall - but he showed that he had a big enough engine, didn't he? And Andrew Smith is not exactly...

    Beale to Tahs, where?

Agree. I don't think he gives a rat's arse about what a player's name is or how big their scrapbook is. He will pick on form and attitude. As far as Beale is concerned: he is just the kind of coach that Beale needs. I liked his use of the squad this year and he didn't hesitate to replace...

Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

I took some notes on the game at the ground on Saturday night, some of them whimsical. Thought I had lost them, but found them today. - Why did the ball-boys wear black jerseys? - The Kiwis showed their class by booing the big screen when Quade's photo was put up as a reserve player. - JOC (James O'Connor)...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

Welcome aboard. Anybody from now on who mentions scholarships on any thread but the Scholarships thread, and I think should know better, will get a one week ban. These guys are ruining the thread. PS - And don't quote them either - you only give them encouragement. PPS - And don't start...

    Waratah Shield 2013

If anybody is interested I have added some photos to the blog about the semi-final, I posted yesterday. http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/waratah-shield-semi-finals/ .

    Waratah Shield 2013

Agree - and the semi also, because, in 2013, the likely NSW protagonists had finished their season (GPS teams don't compete in it a lot and aren't needed.) I don't know what the timetable for Marist is in any year but if they have already finished their comp games then all four semi-finalists...
