Sydney Rays .. NRC Team Official Thread

Interesting Western Force connection to the coaching staff. I wonder if they will use the relationships they have already have over here to lure a few of the players that the Force can't keep for the NRC. As Intruder said earlier, I'd be happy to give up CTM, Zack Holmes, Pek Cowan, Salesi...

    Wallaby Watch 2014

? The premise of the sarcasm is that Wyatt Crockett is not a very good scrummager. He has a long history of being a penalty magnet. From memory, usually for boring in. Or whatever other infringement he can get away with. Good communication before and during the game to get the referee watching...

    Crusaders v Brumbies Rnd12

I am sure there are a few South Africans who think god is a tall, lanky second rower with shoulder length black hair and a scrum cap.

    NZ Match Reports

The NZ conference is getting bloody tight. I can't wait until you guys start taking strips off each other rather than pummelling everyone else.

Getting owned by Wyatt Crockett is a bit embarrassing.

    Crusaders v Brumbies Rnd12

I bloody hope the Brumbies win. If they lose, it throws the Aussie Conference wide open. But on the other hand, another win would put another nail in the coffin of 3 or even 4 NZ teams in the finals. If all three wildcard finals spots are taken by Kiwis I will be filthy for weeks.

    Refereeing decisions

If referees didn't do an average job, who would we have to blame when our team loses? The players? The coach? Referees fucking up is a necessary evil. It happens all the time and good teams just learn to live with it.

    Force v Bye

We really don't have much to do with our time, do we? Haha. Foley mentioned in the presser that Alby and Morahan might be back in the next four games. Sounded like it was more likely to be against the Lions in Perth. I got the impression that a handful of other guys (maybe Rasolea, Alcock or...

    Force V Bulls @ NIB, Rnd 11

Belief or efficiency? The frequency of the Force taking points when we have possession inside opposition territory is much improved. On the flipside, we are generally giving away fewer penalties and fewer tries than we have in the past. We tend to turn over possession by pressuring knock ons or...

    Force V Bulls @ NIB, Rnd 11

I think scrum.com had it down to 14,200. Not bad considering the weather. Not many Lions fans in Perth but hopefully we'll get 15k+ if the weather is good.

    Wallaby Watch 2014

I agree. Who is to say that To'omua isn't our best 12? Playing him there might not necessarily be doing it just to fit him in. He might genuinely be the best player there. Reminds me a bit about James O'Connor. He wasn't a 10, wasn't a 12, wasn't a 15. The only reason he was never played on the...

I reckon Cottrell for MOM. He was ace. I agree with you Blue, I think we got the rub of the green from the ref. But I am not going to complain about it. Really pleased with how our scrum went- I thought we broke even. Our line-out sucked but that's what Matfield will do to you. Some of the...

    Wallaby Watch 2014

Because of balance. If To'omua plays 10, then who plays 12 and 13? We didn't necessarily need a playmaking 12 before last year because KB (Kurtley Beale) or Barnes or O'Connor usually played fullback. Now that Folau is a lock at fullback, we need a second playmaker other than To'omua or Cooper or whoever it is...

Auckland Blues To Infinity and Beyond

The Force have come close: Scott Daruda, Brock James, Jimmy Hilgendorf, Matt Giteau, Lachie Mackay Andre Pretorius, James O'Connor, Mark Bartholomeusz, David Hill, Matt Brandon, Willie Ripia, James Stannard, Ben Seymour, David Harvey, Sam Norton-Knight, Kyle Godwin, Sias Ebersohn, Zack Holmes...

    Perth Spirit News

Matt Hodgson is in his 30s. If he doesn't make the Wallabies this year with the form he has, he won't make the Wallabies ever. So non-participation has no significant effect on him in that regard. Given the way that he plays and his advancing age, there is a genuine risk that he will suffer long...

Perhaps "rested" is the wrong words. They will have non-specific injuries that they will need to recover from.

    Brumbies v Chiefs Rd 11 2014

Well done Brumbies! Great result. With the Sharks yet to tour and the NZ sides about to cannabalise each other, you could easily top the log.

    Force V Bulls @ NIB, Rnd 11

Maybe the starting gig was a carrot to get Coleman to sign on for a few more years. Maybe Foley is concerned that Matfield will be able to read Steenkamp's lineout too easily. Maybe they just wanted to give Steenkamp a rest. Maybe they thought Steenkamp might get wound up by his old team mates...

    Force V Bulls @ NIB, Rnd 11

I've just realised- after the Crusaders game there is the four week break for European Internationals. So there wouldn't be any benefit if the Crusaders game was tanked because the majority of the squad will be rested during that four week break anyway. That is actually a really well timed break.
