Wallabies v All Blacks Saturday 26th August at Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin

BLEDISLOE 2 – ALL BLACKS V WALLABIES– BREAKDOWN & OTHER MATTERS Similar to Bled 1, Bled 2 2017 was a game of 2 halves. The Wallabies Possession decreased from 54% in the 1st half to only 30% in the 2nd. Similarly, Wallabies Territory decreased from 47% to 31%. The Wallabies lost the 2nd...

Thanks lou47 The situation in a nutshell.......and why the West has rallied to expose this injustice which is certainly NOT in the best interests of Rugby in Australia.

    Force 2018

After the rally on Sunday there appears to be growing support for a breakaway-league which would have the support of Andrew Forrest and a growing number of others. It's also telling that Kerry Stokes has already stood up to be counted. Quite like the idea of a new group of Rugby Union teams...

Wallabies v All Blacks, Saturday 19th August, ANZ Stadium Sydney

Only a basic analysis is necessary tp show up the faults. The Wallabies showed a total lack of urgency. This is not something new - we so rarely head the loose ball get count. There appeared to be a lack of hunger for the ball. Nobody was taking control or on-field leadership of the defensive...

Wallabies v All Blacks, Saturday 19th August, ANZ Stadium Sydney

Totally agree Ulrich. Steve Hansen would have been incensed with the ABs not keeping the Wallabies under the hammer. Nobody in the Wallabies camp should take any comfort from the points in the second half. I'm happy to gather the ruck stats -as they are not available from anywhere else -...

Wallabies v All Blacks, Saturday 19th August, ANZ Stadium Sydney

I try very hard to keep my personal opinion out of these stats and work to the definitions as provided. That being the case it's telling that Hanigan is the only Wallabies player who has been marked down for Impact on D Rucks. To me this says that his arriving and doing little was very...

Wallabies v All Blacks, Saturday 19th August, ANZ Stadium Sydney

Not so much criticism as comment. A Squire or a Kaino or a Scott Fardy he isn't. A No 6 needs to make his presence felt around the rucks - with a lot more mongrel, be another option at the line out and be a line breaking ball carrier. Hanigan had only 3 carries for zero gain. A tackle...

Wallabies v All Blacks, Saturday 19th August, ANZ Stadium Sydney

I particularly liked Cane's game so will comment. His speed of support was very impressive and he's constantly hitting rucks rather than simply arriving at rucks. He plays bigger than his 103kg. I'm still looking at the most frequent pairings or pods being used by the ABs. They are more...

Me too. He does keep 'busy' but doesn't do a lot of the hard stuff. Perhaps I need to review my definition of "impact" to exclude just joining a group waiting for things to happen rather than making things happen.

Wallabies v All Blacks, Saturday 19th August, ANZ Stadium Sydney

RUCK INVOLVEMENTS BY MAIN PLAYER GROUPS As in the past, the All Blacks Front Row/Tight 5 were more active than the Wallabies. They also tend to roam wider than the Wallabies. Consistently, the Wallabies Back Row are the most involved. The Wallabies Backs are very involved in the wide...

Wallabies v All Blacks, Saturday 19th August, ANZ Stadium Sydney

BLEDISLOE 1 – WALLABIES V ALL BLACKS – BREAKDOWN & OTHER MATTERS We all know that Bled 1 2017 was a game of 2 halves. The Wallabies Possession increased from 48% in the 1st half to 68% in the 2nd. Similarly, Wallabies Territory increased from 46% to 64%. The Breakdown continues to be hard...

If the ARU is the problem then based on the past 5 years I can confidently advise that Sinderberry is NOT the solution.

The vote at the most recent EGM was 8:6 to reduce to 4 teams. We do know that the VRU voted for 5 teams and MRRU voted for 4 teams. RUPA and WARU voted for 5 teams. Anything else is conjecture.

You can see the ABs numbers against the Lions at http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/community/threads/ruck-involvements-–-wallabies-all-blacks-–-mid-2017.17816/ Sam Cane had the most RIs - but Sam Whitelock & Brodie Retallick weren't far behind him.

    Interesting to look at Michael Hooper's Ruck Involvements change over the time I've been collecting these stats: TEST RUGBY: 2014 - 41 Total - 27 Attack/14 Defence 2015 - 29T - 21A/9D 2016 - 29T - 20A/9D 2017 - 23T - 15A/8D SUPER RUGBY Waratahs win Super Rugby Title 2015 - 29t - 21A/8D 2016 - 27T -...

    Ruck Involvements – Wallabies & All Blacks – Mid-2017

Ruck Involvements by Main Playing Groups Fairly even distribution between the ABs main player groups. The ABs Tight 5 continue to out ruck their Wallabies counterparts. Significant work load being undertaken by the Wallabies Back Row. Similar distribution between main player...

    Ruck Involvements – Wallabies & All Blacks – Mid-2017

Some interesting observations from Ruck Data from the mid-2017 Test series. The Battle of the Breakdown is morphing into something very different from even 12 months ago. Much of this can be attributed to the rule changes around the breakdown. However, with the absence of genuine pilferers...
