How the fuck does Ryan Smith beat Vunivalu in a sprint

    Reds v Crusaders - Round 6

I’d say it was the distance. I think JOC (James O'Connor) has shied away from longer kicks in recent years

He’s definitely taken the ‘more footwork’ memo to heart

    Reds v Crusaders - Round 6

Yep - it almost seems like they're trying too hard in my eyes. Reds will be put to the sword tonight if they don't reign it in.

Remind me why we rate League defence coaches so highly? Patterns? Sure. Technique? Absolutely not.

SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) 2023 General Chat

I'm not sure the new laws have been the main contributor to higher scores or just an apparent drop in defensive standard for some teams, leading to blowouts. Definitely feels much quicker though, so imagine player fatigue might play a role in that. ESPN ran the numbers on ball in play for Round...

Yep, that's valid - but I don't take it as a sign that Super Rugby, as a whole, has too many international; more that it's a unique circumstance across a couple of positions at the moment. Would be interesting to see the % breakdown of Wallabies eligible players across the squads.

Yes, Australian Super Rugby teams, known for attracting mass amounts of international talent

    Reds v Crusaders - Round 6

He was reasonable when he covered for JOC (James O'Connor) last year though. I wonder if Annan is seen as better backs cover more broadly - possibly Campbell or Henry could also step into 10?

Flook’s a bolter for the squad imo. Size is always brought up as an issue but he constantly plays well above his weight

SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) 2023 General Chat

Absolutely. Many, if not all, of the players understandably embrace and are enamoured by the Pasifika culture being the central tenet of the club - it's a shame the powers that be have not done the same.

‘Hoping for improvement’ is a very doubtful assessment of Jones’ chances. A real shame - not just because he’s a handy lock, but also an older head

Even with that, the sentiment on socials is no where near as overwhelmingly-negative as was implied - I've seen many supportive / understanding comments from both League and Union fans across League, Union, and general sporting outlets.
