Winter Tour; Wallabies v France Wednesday 7 July, Brisbane

Yeah, this test has really shown the benefit of Nic White to the Wallabies. But Tate is next best by a country mile.

Failure to get the ball out of our scrum which led to turnover and a try to France. Box kicking too long to be contestable. Box Kick out on the full from outside the 22. The list is long.

You don't rate Banks' kicking for touch BH? Invariably gets it beyond the 22 from half way, and better to have possession there than back on your own 22 when the kick for goal misses as it more often does. Near the end of the game I am happy to see the goal attempt if it will affect the result...

Winter Tour; Wallabies v France Wednesday 7 July, Brisbane

It's a balancing act. Those long goal attempts would otherwise be a kick for touch which would put the Wallabies in good attacking position. Pure supposition, but tries might otherwise have eventuated. I reckon the value of Reece's long boot is limited to near the end of a close game when a...

In which case, KOB, the Rebels will have to move him to 15 too but the indications this year are that they see him as a winger/No 13.

    Waratahs 2022

From my observations, I would say the error rate, especially in the backs, was greater earlier in the game as well.

On Hodge, his Wallaby future probably rests on how well Kellaway goes. Kellaway has the all round, versatile game to challenge Reece for the No 23 spot, and is probably a more skillful player.

Not sure I'd agree about Gordon e-man. Tate is a better ball runner than Jake. I reckon Jake's strength is his support play.

He is a plodder but imo a lot more deserving of 100 tests than the other.

Just for balance, Jake missed some tackles in those last couple of games. His defence on occasions was as poor as Nawaqanitawasi's. I reckon Tate can count himself extremely unlucky if he misses the starting side.

    Will Trae Williams be missed?

    Wallabies 2021

Pretty much the same story year after year, and to be honest, I don't think there was a great improvement in the Wallabies despite the horrendous fitness regime they endured in the Cheika years. Starting to wonder if the strength difference has its root in something else?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Hmmm. Maybe partly explains the poor season by the Tahs?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

All ok. The only other comment I would add is that Canberra is close enough to Sydney to offer plenty of opportunities to Shute Shield players if they wanted to have a go at a NRC type comp but were overlooked by Tahs/Syd Uni.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

ZC, I am bemused by this comment. There was another poster who suggested the Vikings, not me. I simply responded to your comment that the Vikings and Brumbies would find it hard to co-exist, or something to that effect. I pointed out that Sydney Uni and the Waratahs would be similar, because it...

I agree Sully, we currently have decent locks available and a few with huge potential coming through, but isn't the thought of Arnold and Skelton, for example, a mouthwatering prospect? Definitely world class.

That was when he should have been pushed. :(

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Could be wrong but I'm sure the 6 tackle rule was introduced at least in part to bring St George back to a level playing field after they had dominated the game over 11 years through their "softening up" style of play.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

That's true enough ZC, but surely the same observation could be levelled at splitting the Tahs and Sydney Uni.

Wollongong might require a 14 day quarantine afterwards to go anywhere else in the country.
