    Where to for Super Rugby?

Isn't the goss that we may be a Kayo only sport, or at least one that isn't guaranteed to be on Foxsports 1 to 4 for every match. There's still scope for money from Foxtel (and maybe relatively significant money). They are only paying around $25m a year at the moment, which only means 25,000...

    The Israel Folau saga

Added another. But only if you're very cynical

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Interesting stats in Roy Masters Column today on the massive debt issue facing Foxtel and Fox sports. 80% of broadcast funding for sports in Australia comes from Foxtel. Vast majority of that is AFL, NRL and cricket. They need 5 Kayo subscribers to generate as much revenue as 1 Foxtel...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Always been the issue. Work out how many teams you want and multiply by the average wage you want to pay your players. Double that for costs of running the team and the comp

    The Israel Folau saga

I wouldn't understimate the following these guys have. He's got 350k followers on Instagram, which is probably what you'd expect for a sports star of his magnitude. Quade has about 400k as an example. The have a huge reach and each post gets a lot of visibility in the social media space Up...

    The Israel Folau saga

And then they could start planning on how they were going to operate without their major sponsor's money, and the board of directors could have a nice meetup with their NSWRU counterparts and exchange stories as to how they sent their organisations into insolvency.

    Reds 2019

Is Naivalu out too? McGahan and Tela are in the squad and could play 10 or 15 with Hegarty 10/15.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Cutting funding to those sport will make next to no difference to foxtel's bottom line. I'd be surprised if there was even $80m worth of cuts available from those sports a year - especially as the FFA's contract still has years to run. They need $500m a year turn around

    The Israel Folau saga

Gee I hope Izzy is getting some good advice from somewhere. Reports today that he and his long term manager are estranged. So far that's the RA head of integrity (Barrister) and a QC (Quade Cooper), and 2xSCs that think the contract was breached and the penalty was appropriate. There's obvious questions...

    Reds 2019

The Reds still have outside backs available for selection though right? They just don't want to play them. There has to be some point to naming a squad. Pick from it unless you can't

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

I'm talking back on ABC, as reported on these very pages! The way the sample works the difference between 5 and 10 thousand is literally two or four people on the sample watching

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Locals must be disappointed with those Shute Shield ratings. Wasn't so long ago they were averaging 35k and up over 50k at times.

    Skelton

Let's not get too carried away. He playing well but isn't even in the top 2 locks at Saracens. Bit like Fardy. When everyone is fit he doesn't start. Do we really want to be sacrificing our super rugby teams for that level of player?
  16. Strewthcobber

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Foxtel probably pay around $25m to RA and around $55m to FFA per year, to put that $400m+ in perspective

Super Rugby 2019 Predictions - Aussie Conference

Bookies now have Crusaders & Hurricanes there Rebels, Highlanders and Brumbies almost there Jags, Sharks then Bulls with Lions and Stormers very close to 50% Reds are only at 40% with Tahs, Blues then Chiefs very unlikely

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

$417m loss is a pretty incredible number. They have less than 3m subscribers. That is a pretty massive hole to be in.

Arnold, Coleman, Skelton, Carter, Douglas, Fardy, Dennis I'm pushing a few of them, but it's quite an exodus
