    U16/U19 Competition 2023

For QLD Riley Bierton and Will McCulloch were standouts, Bierton in particular with his goal kicking. Sowerby was in everything on both sides of the ball, he looks a bit light weight but has come out of the lower grades so might have the potential to improve quite quickly now that he's been...

It's way too early to judge, even if the season wasn't affected by the world cup four games is nowhere near enough time to make an assessment of a coach, particularly not one coming into a setup that has just been gutted by the national program.

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

They have added an under 20s rugby championship for next year, will play on the Gold Coast in April: https://www.rugby.com.au/news/sanzaar-launches-new-under20-rugby-championship-2023720 6 teams should come in 2026 with the kick off of the world league. Women's rugby championship would be a...

    Waratahs 2024

Road the bench for a second but didn't get on the field, not sure what effect that has on the start of his stand down but it wouldn't make much difference given our test schedule. Would probably have got more though - he copped a season ending knee injury in 2022 when he was in the England Squad.

Neither do I, I only mentioned it as it is the only way to change nationality without observing the 3 year stand down.

    Waratahs 2024

Not as far as I'm aware, you still have to serve a stand down period of 3 years and you can only do it once. There is an Olympics 7s loophole that can get in a shorter switch, but it only applies in very specific situations.

    Waratahs 2024

As it stands he'll be eligible again before the first test of 2025, assuming he doesn't get another England call up in the interim. If he was signed soon for the 2025 season on the understanding he was on RA's radar so he didn't take another England he'd effectively be eligible by the time he...

    Waratahs 2024

This was rumoured ages ago and I'd completely forgotten about it. Should be a solid option as a 3rd string hooker, hopefully he gets a good bit of game time.

All the reporting is that he will if they make him a serious offer: https://www.theroar.com.au/2023/10/30/exclusive-path-clear-for-mckellar-to-return-as-wallabies-coach-despite-leicester-job-cheikas-update-on-future/ It doesn't sound like he'll engage in a protracted interview process though...

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

Yeah, given the player movement between 16s and 19s, both to other states and league, it'd make sense to get more QLD/NSW players exposure at that level. Pacific sports program was exactly what I was thinking with potential pacific sides included, though I'm not sure I'd be wary about...

For that setup I'd go with: Forwards - Kefu Set Piece - Dan Palmer Defence - Phil Blake maybe? Maybe bring in a lineout operator as well, possibly Parling who has done good work at the Rebels, but with McKellar, Palmer and Kefu there it would still be well covered. I'd rather have Laurie...

I can't see Thorn being to keen to get involved in top flight international coaching at the moment, he sounded pretty burnt out when standing down from the Reds. Far and away the best use for him in Australian rugby at the moment would be the under 20s program. It's where he has gotten the...

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

I've only really watched the Reds u19 games but there was a massive improvement in this last one against the Brumbies. I think the small number of games played a big role in them not being on their game for most of the comp. Additionally I think Aus Schoolboys may have gotten in the way of...

RWC Final - New Zealand v South Africa 29/10/23, 0800 NZDT

It's our defence plan if skynet ever gains sentience, just ask it to rule on a point of rugby law and it'll either fry the system or it will opt to delete itself.

If we were to go down that path there's arguably a pretty good argument for loading the south-east corner of QLD with a team each in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast and riding the Olympic gravy-train as much as possible from an infrastructure perspective. The idea of 3 'rivalry'...

No, you read that right, that's the private equity money he's talking about. Apparently part of his contract was built around Australia getting private equity money and centralising/aligning high performance. I'm not sure the money was a specific requirement in and of itself though, or just seen...

    Wallabies 2024

He was in a no win situation there, he has been hounded to explain selection decisions to a much greater degree than previous coaches who usually get away with more wishwashy answers of from, fitness, work ons or "going in a different direction". I definitely don't agree with everything Jones...
