Is the TMO no longer required?

The rugby league World Cup had the TMO talking through his decision whilst watching it. At first I was interested, but then it really did start to sound quite contrived like the contestants on game shows these days who are told to talk their way through their answer. I hope rugby doesn't go...

The Impending Beale vs Folau vs Cooper debate

It's a long way off, and a full season of super rugby will tell a better story. Beale seems like the kinda guy that is gifted with an insane amount of ability who has never been pushed too hard (and consequently never had to really try too hard either). Now he has. I don't really think he...

    RWC 2015 Pools

Odd that they would schedule the third ranking team to play two games in 4 days. I guess maybe someone has to due to the scheduling and it's probably our turn given we didn't have that last World Cup. *edit* just checked - we had a 4 day turnaround in 1995 and 1999 world cups as well. So...

    Wallabies have a drinking problem?

Sounds an awful lot like gossip.

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

I Am quite surprised they went this way. It seems to be quite an expensive option to take given the existing (reported) financial situation the ARU has. Almost has an air of "all in" desperation. The brisbane and sydney club comps appeared to be the perfect breeding ground of organically...

Inflated ETFE foils. Similar to the ones at Southern Cross station in mellybun.

    Scotland v Australia, Murrayfield, 5am 24 Nov 2013

I found that to be a pretty frustrating game to watch actually. The ruck area was messier than the ground conditions which probably didn't help much. That Argentinian assistant referee needs a lot more experience before being unleashed on the international scene. Well done Wobblies for...

Harris won't let us down. He is a very solid player.

    Wallabies have a drinking problem?

The most important thing is that it is consistent in the players minds and they are the ones with the full story. Time will tell whether link has made the right decision and whether the players will move in his direction. Ewen strikes me as being alpha as fuck and the the players will feel...

    Scotland v Australia, Murrayfield, 5am 24 Nov 2013

Our team has been steadily improving and gaining some confidence, wins and (very importantly) some real progress towards combinations that produce tries. They also appear to be enjoying their play more. Not the time to be frigging around with the team at all, IMHO.

    Ireland v Australia, Dublin, 16 Nov 2013

Although a number of the guys look tired, I really don't think we should be making wholesale changes. We need for consistency. Anyone that thinks the scrums haven't improved seriously needs to go and watch rounds 1 & 2 of the RC and see just how absolutely useless our scrum was. On a scale...

Wales vs South Africa, Sunday 10 Nov, Cardiff

The playing surface. That was worse than anything else by far. The boks looked frighteningly devestating at times.

Italy v Australia, Sunday Nov 10 2013, Stadio Olimpico

Dunno. I always imagine the numbers as the set piece of a scrum in motion. I struggle to imagine it any other way like a kick off, or a ruck, or a line out. How do you figure it? I doubt it necessarily matters what number they have on their back though.

I would have thought that Simmons will be 6 in the scrums and 4 in general play, with Timani as 4 in scrums and 6 in general play.

Oh, I most definitely believe that Mckenzie is correct. I also strongly believe Mckenzie knows what he is talking about. But I also strongly believe that refs don't take kindly being told what to do (in the case of the men in gold), or having suspect decisions highlighted (in the case of...

Pointing out that the referee was wrong is not a good idea. It's even worse if you are right and the referee cops it because of you. We should just shut up for a while. A century or so, should just about do it. I am sure having 15 "captains" in gold squawking and telling the ref how to do...

Australia Vs. England, Twickenham, 2nd November 2013

Regarding the try that was scored off an obstruction, I was curious to know what the laws were relating to the incident given so many people have stated that it is either obstruction or not - no "not enough" etc. Sure enough - the law is pretty clear. I found this article by James Leckie that...

Same team this week as last week (barring injured fardy). Opposed scrum training all week with Hooper and Mowen to pack into the "opposition" front row until they learn to keep their friggen heads down in the scrum or they start to cry. Backs to watch on with Chardonnay and ballerina costumes...
