    Fantasy Super Rugby 2014

Having two saffer games as the total round sucked big time. I was distraught to score 168 Fox points, expecting to find myself 500 behind after one round. But, the best round score was less than 350! Oosthuizen was awful, Labuschagne and van der Walt both scored in single figures, backs...

Both teams were one from two in the head-to-head last year.

Can you share your secret? Is it legal? Reunion is absolutely class, Rugby HQ is just crass.

    Western Force 2014

I want to see how they all go this Super season. The last international season was the first under Link and To'omua does have first dibs on 12 after his great EOYT, but there are a lot of people lined up to play 12 this year who could also demand attention.

    Super Rugby Predictions 2014

In terms of overall results, I suspect that the forwards for both teams will have a much bigger influence over the results, especially for the derbies. The Brumby pack on paper looks stronger but I am forecasting the Tah pack will go better this year than last on the back of good recruiting...

Round One: Cheetahs v Lions @ Bloemfontein (15 Feb 14)

It may be early to call it, but I reckon that may be the end of the Cheetahs as a finals hope. The other three teams are not going to give the Lions that sort of gift.

Trial: Waratahs v Highlanders, Hunter Stadium, Newcastle, 14 Feb, Fri, 7:30 PM (EST)

Alofa must be pushing very hard for a wing spot. That was a piece of magic and the pass shows he is not a ball hog. It should have been a try if Beale had drawn his man and passed back to Lofa. With Crawford a bit underdone (though I loved the line he ran for his break) and with Carraro looking...

    Super Rugby Predictions 2014

Somehow I don't think the Crusaders will come in at 11th. My shot at it would be: Sharks Waratahs Chiefs Crusaders Brumbies Reds Stormers Rebels Cheetahs Force Hurricanes Blues Bulls Highlanders Lions I know the Rebels and Force will struggle to get that high because they have to play eight...

    Western Force 2014

The way the finals are structured, teams one and two get a week off to recuperate, then play the semi-final at home. Look at the travel the Sharks and Brumbies had to do because they finished outside the top two in the last two years. Then look at the performance of both teams in the last 20...

    Western Force 2014

Winning your conference guarantees you will be in the top three. Top three is not worth a squirt, you need to finish one or two to win the comp due to the travel.

    Trial: Reds v Rebels - Friday 14 February 2014

Quade Cooper stretchered off. Possibly concussion?? This is a big blow to the Reds. They have two very hard games in the next two weeks, both away. If Cooper is not fit for either it could cruel the Reds season before it starts.

Trial: Waratahs v Highlanders, Hunter Stadium, Newcastle, 14 Feb, Fri, 7:30 PM (EST)

Man that's disappointing! If I know Cheika there will be some colourful language at the next training session! Any injuries to report?

    Reds 2014

He doesn't do this because he is a die-hard Tahs fan. He does it for self-justification. If the Tahs go well he calls himself a hero. If they go badly, then he will begin to spew out the vitriol around round five. And he's a past master at spewing vitriol. Altogether, not a very nice person.

    National Rugby Championship 2014

If we go with nine (WA, ACT, VIC, 2 X QLD, SU/Bal, Syd. nth, Syd. west, Syd. east) then with 12 tenders you are culling the bottom 25%. Maybe not totally ideal, but not too far away from it. The two bids I would feel uneasiest about would be Sydney west and Sydney east. I think Sydney west will...

Trial: Waratahs v Highlanders, Hunter Stadium, Newcastle, 14 Feb, Fri, 7:30 PM (EST)

At a pinch that might be right for round two if Cheika wants to trial something before the Reds in round three or give someone more time to get match fit, but I would think the following is the likely team for the Reds game: Robinson TPN Kepu Potgeiter Douglas Dennis Hooper Palu Phipps Foley...

Trial: Western Force v Pampas XV and Samoa A at ‘The Force Field’ (nib Stadium)14 Feb, Fri

For the first time in living memory, the Australian conference is very strong and also fairly even. Waratahs, Reds and Brumbies all expect to be top two finishers (someone is going to get hurt, not sure who) and the Rebels and Force will have dreams of a top six this year. The Kiwi's have...

    Trial: Reds v Rebels - Friday 14 February 2014

I expect that this will be a pretty tough trial. The Rebels will be no pushovers for anyone this year and are just a good flyhalf away from a finals spot. That, however, is just what the Reds will need. They are away to the Brumbies and the Waratahs in their first two rounds before they get...

Round One: Cheetahs v Lions @ Bloemfontein (15 Feb 14)

This game gets the top world ref, Sharks vs Bulls gets Jaftha. As this game is likely to have much less bearing on the comp result, I do not understand the way the appointments are being made. Its like they were drawn from a hat.

    Six Nations 2014

Listening to some coaches you can tell they are going to be good for their teams. So much good sense spoken. So much care with the detail. Ireland are going to have some very good results in the next three years - its good that they're not in our WC pool. McKenzie's the same. Jake White...

    Waratahs 2014

Last year the Tahs scored several great tries off set piece, because set piece opens up the space for the backs to run uncluttered. Funny how the NH teams just don't seem to get it. Haven't seen a try like that in this year's 6N after five games. I watched it four or five times and then...
