    NSW AAGPS 2018

Not so much in the 14s though - big wins to Scots in 14B, 14C and 14D and a close win to New in 14E. New 14A very good, but Scots have closed the gap - all Scots teams very noticeably well-coached in the core skills of the game. After 5 hours of the icy blast coming off Botany Bay onto Tempe...

Shore away to Joeys this week, so there are Aussie Rules posts up on the main field at Northbridge. I hear that they had the numbers for 2 AFL teams in Year 7 at Shore this year, but could only enter one team because of ground availability.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Like those Japanese soldiers in the jungle still thinking that the war was on 30 years after it was over.:)

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Or we could just wait till there's no one left watching super rugby and then no one will know whether it's still running, who's still in it, how many pools there are and how teams qualify for the finals.

    Shute Shield 2018

I could only speculate, but it's not unknown for players to move from a poorly run club. Wouldn't surprise me if most of that team are now at Norths. (at the moment a well run club)

Watching ONE super rugby game may be regarded as a misfortune, to watch it again looks like carelessness. (apologies to Oscar Wilde) As for watching every week, that asylum would be full of such poor folk.:)

I'm more referrring to their ability to frustrate their own supporters than their ability. I completely agree that the super rugby finals system is unfiar and wrong. It was a travesty that the Brumbies made it last year by virtue of winning the Aussie conference and it will be a travesty if...

Rd 12 2018 NSFW Waratahs vs Auckland Blues. 36 and 1.

No one can throw away a win in the last 10 minutes better than the Blues and yet the Waratahs were incapable of capitalsing on this trait.

Which I think says it all.

Yes gnostic, those same coaches who coach teams that play nearly all their games at night but train during the day. And then offer up dew on the ground as an excuse for handling errors. Kafer, with his commentating hat on, generally offers this up before a game has started to cover what will...

And in keeping with the tradition of Australian rugby where conflict of interest is an unknown concept, we had Greg Clarke as commentator and Cam Clarke playing in the match.

We know that Beale came back from the NH a better player.

The nadir of this of course was when Hickey and Foley used to say that the statistics showed that they actually won the game, but the opposition just happened to score more points. And they said this with a straight face and the conviction of people who actually believed what they were saying. QED

I thought that they'd ditched the system where conference winners were guarranteed a finals spot. How can SANZAAR continue to reward mediocrity (or levels below mediocrity) and expect people to take this thing seriously?

I caught the last 20 minutes of this game when we got home. Quite comical really, even when the Blues tried their usual self-destruct in the last 10 minutes tactic, we still managed not to win. As I said a couple of years back, the Blues and the Waratahs should really just play each other...

    Shute Shield 2018

There'd be fingernail marks right down the M4/M2 if you tried to move the Waratahs from Daceyville (they're not at Moore Park anymore, but same issue) to Blacktown. I'd sell tickets to it.

    Shute Shield 2018

The situation at Gordon tends to prove my point in relation to the link between clubs being well-run and being competitive. Here we have one of the traditional inner Sydney clubs, with the strongest junior rugby area in Sydney, in an affluent area and thus all the advantages for which anyone...

    Shute Shield 2018

One of the biggest problems for Parramatta is that they often put in a couple of years hard work putting a good young team together at either colts or grade and they have trouble holding them. I'm not close enough to say why, but I've noticed a significant leakage to Eastwood over the years...

Always in the mix, always unpredictable, usually just miss out. Would be nice to see them there though.

Current 15s age group have been weak since Year 7. This result suggests that will continue.
