    NSW AAGPS 2018

13A, 14A were both big wins to Newington, 16A New 60 def Oakhill 7, 3rds and 2nds wins to New 50 by plus. Most of the lesser divisions to New, although Oakhill won 5ths and 6ths. Oakhill looked to have won 15A game comfortably I had to leave before the 1sts started as I has other commitments.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It could well be argued that the only way for rugby in Australia to prosper into the future is for Rugby Australia to collapse. Echoing dru's most recent post, super rugby has outlived its usefulness in the Australian context.

Don't you get 7two? Last year they were broacasting the SS game on the Gold Coast on 7two.

Drummoyne were a traditional inner city club and that alone didn't help them that much. Yes, it's definitely harder for a new team in a non-traditional area - that's why the governing body have a role in providing assistance. The AFL and the NRL both do it - and before you say that rugby...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I haven't watched a game live or on TV all year. A couple of times I've been out and caught parts of games, and that was bad enough. I'm a SFS member, so I get in for free and I still won't go. Brookvale Oval is 5 minutes from my front door and you wouldn't get me there tomorrow night if you...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Personally I'd love the Kiwis to boot us out of super rugby. It would save RA from having to make a decision. Tell whoever wrote that column: Bring. It. On.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

At least you and I have seen it. I have a 13 year old and an 11 year old who have no idea what it is like.

    Shute Shield 2018

Certainly having money allows clubs to attract players, but I'd argue that the clubs with money tend to be the ones which are well run. From my experience, there have been times when Manly weren't going so well and at those times the administration side of the club wasn't great. I've seen...

    Shute Shield 2018

Correct. I'm not advocating a team at Penrith. Blacktown is part of the same greater western Sydney region (that might be a good name for a team ;)). Clubs that aren't well run tend not to have money to spend on players - note how the Manly Sea Eagles league team are travelling. At the...

    Shute Shield 2018

That's true, but I think that the broader community are far more likely to bond with a club which is successful, well-run and playing at a reasonable facility. Unfortunately Penrith haven't really been able to achieve any of these - and the fault isn't necessarily with the volunteers doing...

    Shute Shield 2018

I tend to agree, but I suspect that NSWRU have come to the same conclusion that I have, which is that Penrith are/were unsalvagable and that nothing could really be done to save them. Starting from scratch is the way to go, but there's going to be a lot of money, time and resources involved to...

    Shute Shield 2018

I think you're giving NSWRU too much credit. I strongly doubt that they would be capable of thinking up a conspiracy. More likely that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing./

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Personally, I'd advocate a 6 team domestic competition involving Waratahs, Red, Brumbies, Rebels, Force and a combined PI team. The PI team to play its home games in western Sydney - the new Parramatta Stadium for example or Penrith Park or Cambelltown Stadium. Three games every weekend...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Don't underestimate (as many do) the strength of the spiritual and historic bonds between NZ rugby and SA rugby. It is THE rivalry in southern hemisphere rugby (certainly in both of their minds). In both cases their natural instinct is to bond together and play each other as often as possible...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

They key point there is that a trans-Tasman option is basically not an option. We either strike out on our own or keep doing what we're doing.

    Unfortunately this is hardly surprising.
