  1. Quick Hands

    NSW AAGPS 2018

1st XV are quite young (plenty of Year 11 and a few Year 10 players). The number of errors in the basic skills of the game should be a concern, they created a number of try-scoring opportunities in the first half, only for he last past to go behind the player, or to nobody etc. As you say, the...
  2. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

Ben Skeen is the TMO again, so he can seemingly destroy a game without even getting on the field. Apart from engineering last week's fiasco from the TMO box, he has prior form. A man clearly desperate to put his stamp on the game - even though he's supposed to play an advisory role. The...

The way some commentators speak, it's actually a wonder that the other 14 players need to turn up at all.;)

    NSW AAGPS 2018

Riverview defence in the forwards was like a brick wall. Backs capitalised on a number of basic errors by New backs. The score was still only 26-21 with 15 minutes to go - full credit to Riverview though, they really finished well and took advantage of every opportunity which presented itself.

    NSW AAGPS 2018

Very disappointing last 15 minutes by New. Competitive for 3/4 of the game but Riverview finished with a flurry of tries to win 50-21.

I'm going to hang around for the 1sts this week. I'm looking forward to it.
  11. Quick Hands

    NSW AAGPS 2018

Very interesting games this weekend. I suspect that two will be close and the other might be a blow out. Scots by 5-10 over Joeys Kings by 20 plus against Shore A resurgent New by 5-10 over Riverview

    Shute Shield 2018

Memories are swirling back in relation to an old pulpit in the Briars club from which post game speeches etc were made. Am I halucinating?
  13. Quick Hands

    Shute Shield 2018

I think I probably went to both at some point in time. IIRC both were very friendly places and sometimes quite long evenings.;)

    Shute Shield 2018

A little before my time, but my visits to the Briars club were always enjoyable and recollection of people and events can't be relied upon.:)

    Shute Shield 2018

Certainly for colts the post match was always at the ground. I have vague recollections of going to their club in Burwood - although I might be confusing this with going to Briars club after subbies games.
  16. Quick Hands

    Shute Shield 2018

Interestingly, their club is/was located in Burwood Rd Burwood. Amalgamated with Burwood RSL in the early 00s and is now known as Club Burwood - the circle is now complete. http://clubburwood.com.au/information/club-history
  17. Quick Hands

    Shute Shield 2018

Makes sense, Burwood would have been a different council?
  18. Quick Hands

    NSW AAGPS 2018

On form 1st and 2nd seem reasonably to be between Scots and Kings. I think that Joeys, New and Riverview games will go down to a bit of luck on the day. It wouldn't even surprise me if one of the three upset the favoured top 2 at some point. Shore would seem to have 6th sewn up. The...

    Shute Shield 2018

Drummoyne Council made Glebe-Balmain change their name to Drummoyne in the 20s before they could get a lease on Drummoyne Oval but at least that makes some sense. Maybe Burwood was considered too specific and a little too elite?
  20. Quick Hands

    Shute Shield 2018

Unknown, all the relevant page on the club's website says is that the Council would only give them a lease on St Luke's Oval if they changed their name to Western Suburbs.
