  1. Joe Blow

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

13 is such an important defensive position, particularly in test rugby. Cheika seems to pick his teams as if they are going to play a Super rugby game. I hope Kerevi comes to the party but I have my doubts. He gets away with the defensive lapses at the Reds but will be ruthlessly exposed by...
  2. Joe Blow

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

Test rugby is a different beast and a big step up from Super Rugby. Latu will be fine as long as he does not need to come on in the first 10 minutes. That finishing front row is pretty solid, tight 5 really. Kerevi, we will see on Saturday I guess. Two years ago against the Poms and last year in...
  3. Joe Blow

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

I like Kerevi more as a 12. He creates a lot and needs strong fast runners outside him. I have not watched him a great deal this year but he previously struggled with maintaining structure in both attack and defence. His decision making in both seems to be driven by him trying to make maximum...
  4. Joe Blow

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

I can understand that. TK is no slouch in attack either, has a good offload and a nose for the chalk. He is just much more direct. Test rugby is a different beast. The fundamentals become even more important and mistakes are punished ten fold. I reckon TK will get the nod. Hopefully either...
  5. Joe Blow

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

I would start TK with Hodge on the bench. I’m guessing that Kerevi will be in the 23 though. I would give his bench spot to Maddocks. We need stability amongst the creativity that is already there. Kurindrani always rises to the occasion even if his Super Rugby form has been less than stellar. It looks...
  6. Joe Blow

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

I’m sorry, I do not get the push for Kerevi at 13. There is no doubting his individual skillset and incredible athletic ability. However, his defence is still horrible and he just appears to find it almost impossible to gel with the other players at both the reds and the Wallabies. You get the...
  7. Joe Blow

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

Around players at the next level he will most likely thrive. He is a very exciting prospect.
  8. Joe Blow

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

But our lineout is vulnerable. At least have him on the bench in case we start to get slain at the lineout. He’s got to be good for 20-30 at the end?
  9. Joe Blow

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

I thought I saw him listed at 190cm? Anyway, McMahon will be back for the RWC and then we will have a stable full of sub 190cm backrowers.

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

Will he go with Timu and Samu to back up Pocock and Hooper? I doubt it. More likely that Tui will be on the bench with Timu starting or the other way around.
  11. Joe Blow

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

Maybe. I think Cheika will have a look at him. The first test may be the best opportunity if Hanigan is fit for the second.
  12. Joe Blow

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

It sounds as though he is a little shocked to be there but is happy about it. I would be surprised if he plays a big part in this series unless there are multiple back row injuries.
  13. Joe Blow

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

Have we been down this road before? Samu is a little taller than McMahon so could be a decent target in time. Tui as a long term prospect has merit and obviously Cheika has put a lot of time and faith into Hanigan. I would love to see us mix it up in-between now and the RWC only rolling out the...

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

He is much better than Hanigan

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

Timu is very exciting. However he is still quite green in union and does not need to be thrown in starting in his first test. Start Tui at 6, even if he only plays 30-40mins.
  16. Joe Blow

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

You have to start Kepu and base the scrum off him. Tupou is an incredible talent but there is no need to throw him in to the first test with a debutant hooker and a LH that has shown himself to be vulnerable at times. We need Tui or Hanigan starting in the back row. Neither would be my first...
  17. Joe Blow

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

Lineout will get roasted. Ditto for the front row.
  18. Joe Blow

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

We will know tomorrow if he is going to bring another backrower in and who it will be.
  19. Joe Blow

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

I would say he would be more likely to start a Tui at 6 if fit and then bring on Timu early in the second half.
  20. Joe Blow

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

I don’t think so. Hanigan is doubtful and Samu has been denied. Tuis match fitness’s under question. Hooker is also up in the air with Ueleses injury.
