The concept of having a 14/15 hybrid winger makes eminent sense, as most sides try to run one wing who is very solid under the high ball and can kick, so the pendulum defensive structure negates the offensive kick. (It worked better for Aus when we had the worlds best kick disburser in the back...

Morgan Turinui suggested that AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is still as fast as Hodge on his podcast (but still couldn't work out the logic of selecting him)

Many a decent young 13 & 15 has kicked off there careers on the wing. They are just backs, stand over there, "try" to tackle when someone comes near, pass it to someone in a better position, run at gaps & keep your hair neat are not difficult concepts

Petaia has immense potential and has been in and about the squads doing his apprenticeship for a while now but is he goes down we need another proper winger, not another 13 or 15 or utility I like Banks's potential but we have a load of cover for a 14/15 in the squad already but none for Koro

There a load of units in the RWC squad that have been tackle bag holders that we can assume need some game time before units outside the RWC squad

In reality we ain't, no aus side is, we no longer are near that. The only SH side I would put in that category would be the Crusaders

There is also a selection lag built into the system, the Tahs had been the most successful Super Rugby side for a number of years, that leads to more players being selected, rightly or wrongly as they had been in the semis while the rest were polishing their boots. With the Ponies finally turning up...

The guy would be on great money playing for one of the best clubs in the world. Why would he come back for a pay cut with the unknown of a new Wobs coach who may not be interested in playing him?
