    Australian Rugby / RA

Might want to read the fine print - when RA takes control of a super license that vote becomes void. So if Melbourne follow NSW into commercial centralisation the voting block that is potentially created is QLD/ACT/WA controlling half of all votes, one short of a majority which could be...

    Australian Rugby / RA

I don't remember seeing that but it could've been the case. Mostly it was just that both the Brumbies and Reds were resistant to commercial centralisation from the start with the Brumbies seeing it as an existential threat that needed to be fought against and QLD having the financial clout to...

In fairness they also appear to be the only club RA has sent the auditors into and generally come at with a degree of hostility.

Sounds like there's a press conference for this kicking off in ~15 minutes

    Super Rugby General Chat

Awesome work. I did a full run down of all the super players wallaby eligibility at the start of last season, this looks in line with what I had. https://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/community/threads/wallaby-eligibility.19403/ Planning on updating that sometime over the off season now the squads...

    U16/U19 Competition 2023

First under 20 squad has been named: https://www.rugby.com.au/news/laurie-fisher-to-coach-australian-u20s-as-2024-preliminary-squad-announced-20231112 Super players held back for this one. Good to see they're getting Fisher involved.

    Wallabies 2023

Carrying minor hip flexor and groin injuries that significantly limited his kicking in training for much of the year

    Brumbies 2024

I think you're probably expecting more out of Neville than most, he's just turned 35 and has had a significant injury run over the past few years. I think it's probably unlikely he picks up many more wallabies caps at this stage, not without an injury crisis to clear the way. I suspect Frost...

The crusaders have had plenty of dickheads but fewer breaks in success to feel the pain of them. Even if you did want to argue they'd successfully implemented a no dickhead policy there's no justification it's anything other than correlation, particularly if it's not repeated elsewhere.

    Australian Rugby / RA

Yeah, a lot of successful teams will crow about their "no dickheads" policy (or whatever they want call it) and it looks somewhat true at the time, but a few years out there's always plenty that comes out to contradict that. I think the much more likely scenario is that success makes people a...

    Brumbies 2024

Yeah, it's Reimer and Brown most likely to feel the squeeze from the backrow players and get scooped up with a solid OS offer. I expect this is probably Muirhead's last season with Brumbies given he's off contract. It's hard to see him cracking the Wallabies at this point and given he'll be...

    League Targets

Could be an asset but I think S&C is the are we most need to get centralisation in order before making any big moves. It's easily the most 'centralisable' facet of high performance and probably the most important component in the immediate term. Lots of moving pieces to get into place with the...

    Waratahs 2024

It's hard to see how Nawaqanitawase could be seen as someone missed or let down by the pathways - he played Aus under 20s and the tahs had invited him to train with them before he had finished school. If anything he's an example of the pathways succeeding in picking up a guy from outside the...

    Aussie Player Exodus

Yeah, it's a big part of why we need to find more rugby for our existing teams and players before trying to go for a significant increase in teams. It's been said a million times already, but the super au/NRC run through the international calendar is far and away the most useful developmental...

    Western Force 2024

Yeah, but at least not until the 23/24 season is done in France, so he won't show up in Perth until the 2024 season is done and dusted. https://www.theroar.com.au/2023/07/23/exclusive-world-cup-wildcard-emerges-as-french-based-hooker-set-to-return-to-super-rugby/

He'd be crazy not to, particularly with RA so willing to open the cheque book for league players.
