Wallabies vs Ireland - 3rd test - Saturday 23rd June 2018 - Sydney Football Stadium

Very insightful analysis of one of the problems with rugby in Australia.

Wallabies vs Ireland - 3rd test - Saturday 23rd June 2018 - Sydney Football Stadium

A point I've made many times on various threads, but the ARU and the NSWRU are seemingly oblivious to that part of the world. The fact that Penrith Junior RL print their code of conduct in English, Tongan and Samoan might be something of a clue to the demographic there?;)

Wallabies vs Ireland - 3rd test - Saturday 23rd June 2018 - Sydney Football Stadium

Couldn't agree more. When I first started playing rugby, tries were worth 3 points (same as penalties and field goals). They were increased to 4 to encourage more tries and then to 5 for the same reason. In my view, increasing the value of the try as opposed to a penalty goal actually...

Wallabies vs Ireland - 3rd test - Saturday 23rd June 2018 - Sydney Football Stadium

Depends on perspective. I'd like the oppostion penalised if their backs are a metre offside or if they are slowing down the ball at the tackle. I disagree with the whole premise of your argument that the quantum of penalties make the game more or less entertaining.

Which would put us long term in the same position as league find themselves. As soon as refs are instructed to go easy on an aspect of the game, professional coaches sieze on it and coach their players to break a law that they know won't be enforced. This is one of the reasons that there are...

Wallabies vs Ireland - 3rd test - Saturday 23rd June 2018 - Sydney Football Stadium

Funny, because where I was sitting there were plenty of Wallaby supporters calling for penalties when they thought that the Irish were infringing (and applauding the ref when the whistle blew) and plenty of Irish supporters calling for penalties when they thought we were infringing (with the...

Wallabies vs Ireland - 3rd test - Saturday 23rd June 2018 - Sydney Football Stadium

I was at the game last night - first game of professional rugby since the corresponding match last year. I enjoyed the game - tough, intense rugby. All the people watching around me seemed to enjoy the game as well. Unless NZ is involved, all Tier 1 test matches involve the same attritional...

If the ball ever made it along the New backline without a pass behind, above or along the ground I think that the New wingers could do some damage.

Very open. Really only two teams completely out of the hunt for the semis.

Games are on next Friday, Saturday and Sunday at UNSW Daceyville. I'd assume that teams wouldn't be formally published until after this week's GPS games?

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

My suspicion is that as the more experienced referee, Gauziere came on and told Williams to check it. It was an injury break and Phipps in particular was complaining loudly. This is another of the problems with the extra TMO involvement - players in the heat of battle pile pressure on the ref...

So why did we need the TMO review?

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

The TMO would also most likely be unsighted in these situations. And to continue your hypothetical ponderings, at the conclusion of the game we could not declare a result. Every test match decided by less that 14 point we could have the TMO go through the whole 80 minutes and review every...

No more cynical that us killing the ball every time they were on our goal line. Pocock at least 3 times. They were never warned by the ref for consecutive infringements, but we were three times and yet they get the card? I completely disagree with the card that Ireland received and you'll...
