  1. Quick Hands

    NSW AAGPS 2018

They had a 21-19 loss to New last Saturday and New have only lost to Scots this year. New have had/will probably have 3 of their better players in the 1sts/2nds instead of 16As. I think historically the age group is reasonably even with the exception of Shore (who had to pull out of the 15As...
  2. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

He must have bionic eyes if he could see that from 30 metres away.
  3. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

And I disagree with the card as well as disagreeing with your view. The card was total nonsense.
  4. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

Yes, yes and a thousand time YES, because stuff like that goes on in many rucks/tackles and goes unnoticed and the time taken up by the review is worse than missing the original infringement. Interesting that you've used the perjorative word "cheating" when it's in fact just an infringement -...
  5. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

I agree to an extent, but it's the referees themselves and the authorities (IRB/WR (World Rugby)/SANZAAR) who are at least partially responsible for this. Increasingly over the past 5 years, referees have taken more and more of the limelight - miked up to each other and to the TV broadcast, increasing TMO...
  6. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

If I was an Irish fan, I'd be complaining about no Aussie being carded, despite 3 warnings for goal line infringements. If roles were reversed, there would have been plenty of complaints on this thread.
  7. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

It's like a cross between hockey and rugby.
  8. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

Indeed RH, a point I've made a number of times. Although, you have forgotten to include Hurling which also has a higher participation rate than rugby in Ireland - making rugby the 4th most popular winter team sport in the country. :) EDIT: The 2017 All Ireland Hurling final drew 82,300 to...
  9. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

We'll have Gauziere as the three of them have been appointed for the series 1 x test as ref and 2 x tests as AR. The lamentable Ben Skeen is the TMO again. (sighs heavily)
  10. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

If every law was stringently applied from beginning to end, then the game would never get beyond one phase before the referee blew his whistle.
  11. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

Not quite what the law says. 29 All lineout players are onside if they remain on their side of the mark of touch until the ball has been thrown in and touched a player or the ground. 30 Players jumping for the ball who cross the mark of touch and do not catch the ball must immediately return...
  12. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

I thought the Pocock one was just one of those things which happen when you have 30 big bodies competing in a collision sport. Didn't see the Genia one either. Ben Skeen seems to miss no opportunity to inject himself into the game from the confines of the TMO lounge, so I'd be surprised if...
  13. Quick Hands

    NSW AAGPS 2018

Bell played 1 for New and was one of their best. His work rate and impact is exceptional.12 and 7 best for View, but even though I was there at 12.15, I couldn't get a programme, so I have no idea of the Riverview names.
  14. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

Channel 10 team far superior to the drivel served up on Fox - hence my viewing preference. Burke and Sharpe actually give good insights and are pretty neutral in their comments.
  15. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

The better team won and the margin flattered the Wallabies IMO. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I find the continual unecessary TMO involvement highly irritating. Originally the TMO was there to adjudicate on the scoring of tries, i.e. limited to the act of scoring the try. This was later...
  16. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

Over on channel 10, Burke and Sharpe didn't even know that there's no kick after a penalty try any more. Luckily GB there to enlighten them.
  17. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

I wish someone would turn the TMO's microphone off. There clearly aren't enough stoppages in the game, so WR (World Rugby) gives TMOs more involvement. FFS.
  18. Quick Hands

    NSW AAGPS 2018

From my limited observation of Scots this year, I'm impressed by whatever they're doing in skill development. The Scots 14B-14E teams that I saw a few weeks back were all very well-drilled in the core skills of the game.
  19. Quick Hands

    NSW AAGPS 2018

Newington would be one of the few places in Australian rugby which has more kids playing today than they did 5 years ago. The current coaching and development process is paying dividends IMO.
  20. Quick Hands

Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

World Rugby have given the TMO far too much to do. IMO they should adjudicate on the actual action of scoring a try and cardable foul play offences only.
