Back to your original post RW, and I agree with your sentiment that there might be issues at 9 and 10. The halves is the point from which it all happens and it just doesn't seem to be happening. Burgess, good athlete, not the best number 9. Giteau great athlete, not a number 10.

Brothers always have a gold coin"donation point at the entry gate. They don't seem to bother too much if you don't have one but most people play the game.

To carry the debate a little further, how would you describe John Eales? Not a psychotic mongrel like Sam Scott-Young, or even as agressive as Toutai Kefu, but a peerless forward nonetheless.

99 team wins hands down but I don't know how fair comparisons are.

    Where is the grunt?

Agreed, in fact having mongrel probably means requiring more discipline.

Palu needs to come back in

You can always cheer for the Reds Noddy, whether it's a wasted exercise is another thing!

Have to disagree with some of what you write RW, just not sure how to articulate it, or where to start? Maybe I will stick to comments on the backs for the moment. I think many of us who recall 'the golden days' tend to view history through rose coloured glasses. Horan was fantastic, and I was...

TYS Wallaby of the Year: v ABs

I don't mind Burgess, great defender and the occasional dart from scrumbase is brilliant. Tonight was actually the best he has played for a while, but... to me Genia has a quicker, more direct and accurate pass , and that is the most important tool of trade for a halfback. He is also a good...

Tuqiri and Digby are exactly the opposite of what we need. Which is?

We were down a man for ten minutes in the second half. That's got to have some effect. And not enough credit must being given to the All Blacks forwards. We weren't that bad at lineout and in the scrums and they were just better at the ruck.

I didn't notice Andrew Shaw or Dom Shipperley on the field and Donelly was running water after being belted by the Coast boys last week. Other than that it was a fully loaded Brothers team with the likes of Croft and McKibben playing. Hardman played off the bench which was a bit of a surprise...

    NZ v Australia.

Disappointing result that, and the fact that we couldn't get across the line bothers me. With the Bledisloe gone and buckley's chance in the Tri Nations it might be time for a few changes. I will go left field and suggest a Reds 9, 10, 12 combo in Genia, Cooper and Barnes, just to give Gits a...

Boilover at Shaw Road with Norths getting up over Brothers 31 - 24. Norths were very enthusiastic and got out to a good lead then defended like hell for the last 15-20 minutes. Houston played but didn't last the whole game but the other forwards really put in. Guy by the name of Bond looked to...

Sincerely hope Leroy has not gone MIA. He still has the potential to be a Wallaby 8, but has to stay away from the pies. He has disappointed with his low work rate when I have seen him at club. Bad luck for Blair, two serious injuries in successive seasons. Hope he pulls through and surprises...

The Gold Coast can confirm the final four spots if they account for GPS at the Coast this weekend. GPS are an outside chance for the four but have the Coast then Brothers, and then have to rely on Norths knocking over Easts in the final week. Should be a good game at Albert Park. Definitely the...

Have to watch Rex T a couple more times to form a valid opinion but he looked sharp enough and seems to have the skills. He played opposite Gillespie on Saturday and he looks handy as well. Who is the Gold Coast No. 8 ? Thought he was very good.

Funny old game rugby... the most impressive result of the weekend was probably Easts 28-5 win over the Reds filled Sunnybank. Pretty much consolidates their 4th spot but GPS still remotely in the hunt after a come from behind draw with Souths. Brothers got the lollies against the Gold Coast...

If maturity is the prerequisite, what about Steve Kefu? As for Barnes, he's made his bed.....welcoming him back after only a year might send the wrong type of message to those that stayed loyal. Might have to wander down to Crosby Park this weekend to watch Rex Tapuai.

Some important games in Brisbane club rugby this weekend, none more so that at Crosby Park where Brothers host the in-form Gold Coast. The Coast have just nudged to the top of the ladder but will find the filth tough at their homeground. I believe Ben Tapuai is out so wonder who will play at 10...
