Nice work FOS. I will be interested to see how Weekes and Kennedy step up but Bell showed in his selection of Edwards that he has a keen eye for front row talent.

Given his previous S14 experience with the Highlanders, Ezra Taylor would have to be a chance for the 22 wouldn't he? I'm also thinking that Rob Simmons should be starting to show a bit as well.

    Brumbies 2009

Sitaleki Timani was impressive this year for the Barbarians vs the Reds. Everyone seems to be screaming out for big locks to come to the fore. Could he be the one in 2009?

I hope that for the Forces sake, and the 10's already there, that your speculation about Giteau is way off. Not a bad looking team on paper. Good depth in the backs and if Holmes fulfils some of that promise it will be an exciting unit to watch.

    Ones to watch in 09

Couple of young bucks in Qld may get a sniff during pre-season...speaking of Jake Schatz, James Slipper and Luke Morahan. The first two are forwards so any introduction to S 14 will have to be carefully managed but Mooney may test their mettle in the trials as he did on the European tour...

Rate the Wallabies 2008 Spring Tour

If the EOYT proved anything it proved that the midfield mix is not working. Giteau is not a flyhalf. He needs to be pushed back out to 12. As a flyhalf, Barnes is not good enough. He kicks excessively, plays too far behind the advantage line and has no creativity, which is why Quade Cooper...

Genia is handy and the tussle will be interesting. Perhaps both to be in line for further honours? I am looking forward to seeing some good performances out of Saia Fainga'a at hooker, and a fitter Leroy Houston really step up.

I see Coridas got a MOTM award for one of the games. The Sevens run should help in his preparation for next year.

    Quade v Kurtley

I tend to think that speed is a very important asset for a fullback. If Mark Gerard had pace he would be the OZ 15 easily.

12 might be a consideration I guess but I don't think he has the foot speed for 15

    Quade v Kurtley

I'm not in a position to comment on Kurtley Beale but the little that I have seen of him suggests that he has the talent to go all the way. Having seen a lot more of Cooper and To'omua, I am prepared to say that they are two of the best schoolboy 10's I have seen, but for different reasons...

The Yellow Scarf World XV 2008

I don't think Matfield deserves to be there either, if 2008 form is the measurement. To be honest, Sharpe was a lot better, and i would rate Thorne ahead of him as well. Won't argue against any of the other selections.

Not privvy to the politics and agree that the QRU has been less than impressive in the recent past, BUT, they seem to have some good people involved these days. Obviously Mooney as head coach, but also guys like Emtage, Carozza and Whittaker seem very capable.

I should have read your post more carefully. Agree with Noddy, Kingi did have a good first year with Sunnybank. Quite a tough little bugger, with some tricky evasive skills. I see Aust lost to the USA overnight. O'Connor wouldn't be happy.

Any truth to the rumour that Will Genia has gone to Norths?

Lee, Richard Kingi was the backup 10 to Matt To'omua for the Qld II schoolboys in 2006, and I thought he was a handy player then. I am pretty sure that he made the U20 OZ squad to Wales this year, or if not, was in the mix right to the end, so he does have some 15 a side form. I heard that he...

If these new Reds get decent game time in the club comp it could make things interesting. I thought Souths looked ok last year but their star, Cooper, rarely got on. With him and the three new signings, Souths will be pretty impressive. Uni were a huge disappointment last year and ther new...

Very good player RW. Hope his introduction, if it happens, is against carefully selected opposition. Theres some brutes out there.

Incessant, inane invective contributes little to positive rugby discussion. That Ella was a legend amongst the players of his time is undisputed. End of.

Uni may well surprise with the addition of the three new Reds.
