    Reds v Waratahs, round 19 2014

Maybe this is true, but I don't see much evidence of it. SA is generally dry during the Super comp, the high veldt is certainly so, though Durban and Cape Town are wetter. But certainly not UK winter wetter. But except for the Cheetahs, the South Africans all play some version of Jakeball...

    S18 on its way

The 3 X 6 team format was ruled out in the beginning in favour of the 4 X 5. But, as an option, I think it is still alive because the Singapore/Tokyo fight is going to get messy and I predict the Singapore option will bleed so much money that you'd have to be an oil sheik to fund it. The...

The Other Qualifier - Sharks vs Clan - Saturday

Over the years, the Sharks have lost more finals and semi's than the Waratahs have. That's the truth, though I never would have thought it till I looked it up. They seem to travel well during some seasons, but not in the finals.

Qualifying Final 2: Brumbies v Chiefs. Sat. 19/07

With both teams playing offside then I suspect it might get pretty ugly rugby pretty quickly.

    Reds v Waratahs, round 19 2014

I don't think in the whole history of mankind anything could eclipse the Quade thread.

    Waratahs 2014

This is very likely the cause. If you make a dominant tackle its likely to be the runner that gets twisted the wrong way. If you make a dominant run its likely the tackler that gets twisted. Momentum has a great deal to do with who gets injured. The Waratahs put great store in being dominant in...

    Reds v Waratahs, round 19 2014

The citing commissioner only cites red card worthy events. He must have decided the yellow card was sufficient penalty after reviewing all the relevant factors.

    Reds v Waratahs, round 19 2014

The physics is a bit more complex. Consider a front on tackle where the runner is going flat out and the tackler from directly in front hits the runner between the knees and the waist; that is below the centre of gravity. This does not result in tip tackles in all but a few cases and yet is...

    Reds v Waratahs, round 19 2014

Physics only dictated that result because the tackler drove UP in the tackle. The whole point of the tackle is to put the player on the ground. If you drive up then this is counter-productive to the objective and very likely to be dangerous. You've got to sympathise with the young bloke, his...

    Reds v Waratahs, round 19 2014

But then you get a system where multiple test players have to leave their provincial home and move to where there is money left in the top-up kitty. The end result is every province will have 5 or 6 test players, most of whom will have to move to get the top-up. That's a pretty ugly result for...

Qualifying Final 2: Brumbies v Chiefs. Sat. 19/07

Its further in km but not necessarily in time. But the clue to the SFS and Olympic Park are to drive until you hit the traffic and then train it.

    Waratahs 2014

Yeah, but my blood pressure is already up thinking about the Brumbies game. A Highlanders win would be very nice.

    Reds 2014

Although I am not typical, my experience living interstate may cast some light on "memberships". Long term Tah tragic, living interstate who maybe gets to see a live game once every two years. This year I am not missing seeing us win the comp, whatever happens. But rather than buying a walk-up...

Waratahs v Brumbies, SFS Saturday 26 July

What time is kick-off at the Clock? I'm coming up from Adelaide and I'll need to eat before the game; I can't think of better company to do it in!

I'm in bay 35 row L. Should I, in the interests of public safety, leave my hearing aid at home and bring my earplugs? :)

    NZ Match Reports

I'd guess about the same kg's as AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper). The match-up between the two was just about the game highlight. So Fekitoa isn't big? He plays big though.

Qualifying Final 2: Brumbies v Chiefs. Sat. 19/07

Doing the maths, and correlating for more winter football teams in Sydney, that's 24,000; about what we got to our last home game. So, even stevens.

    Reds v Waratahs, round 19 2014

Rakes as in hookers? I reckon we've got three good ones. Tranq's post is a bit weird. I think he's referring to the Tahs getting more/bigger top-ups, but with so many players absolutely on fire, you'd have to think that them getting big top-ups is pretty well earned.

The road home - Super rugby 2014

This was the source of their position in Super rugby. They got very few bonus points. If they had played looser, trying to get more bonus points, they would probably have had more losses. The Hurricanes missed the finals too and they were the mirror image of the Force. Lots of bonus points from...

    SA Match Reports

The Highlanders look to be a really exhausted team at the moment and I expect the Sharks to win. But if the Clan's forwards can hold them up then the Smiths plus Fekitoa, Osbourne and Buckman could be a really difficult assignment. The Highlanders dished up the Sharks at home earlier in the...
