Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

The side I'd like to see is Sio (only choice now), Moore & Kepu starting front row, I know Kepu can be lazy about the paddock, but we musn't let our scrum be dominated early, and he is the best scrummager among out THP's. Obviously Siaa, Slipper & Alexander on the bench (mine would have been...

Wallabies Squad - the Link Era

No panic button, Charger, I just don't agree with one particular selection.

Wallabies Squad - the Link Era

Been away for 24 hours but blown away by Fatcat's exclusion. Before the Link fans go balistic, I'm not saying he is a poor coach, selector, whatever, I just strongly disagree with this particular selection. And if you can't debate it on a rugby forum, where can you? Robbo matched it with Adam...

    Beale to Tahs, where?

It now seems likely that Beale will come to the Tahs for 2014. He clearly won't be cheap, so Cheika must have a plan for him, but where? At 10 Bernard Foley is still a work in progress, but is developing into a class 10. Compared to Beale he guides the backs around better, runs straighter...

    Non-partisan views

Lucky: Betham - not even one of the Tahs top two wings, hands and defence way below standard Dennis - Plenty of chances, solid at S15, not at this level though Harris - I just don't get that About time: Pyle - Real class To'omua - My pick @ 10, although I know he won't be White - So far ahead...

2013 Waratahs under Cheika - Report Card

Generally very happy. Yep, a long way to go, but the difference between this team and the one that finished 2012 is massive. I agree with most of the comments above (except re Foley), particularly about the need to improve our execution and our kicking game, but compared to last year the style...

    Ewen McKenzie: Wallaby Coach

A good decision. Jake White is a good coach, but I prefer the style of play Link coaches. I think perhaps more has been blamed on RD than is fair, but as coach (or CEO, or owner of a small business) you live or die on your results. That's just the way it is out here in the real world. RD...

Australia v British & Irish Lions, 3rd Test (Sydney)

Totally agree re the two 7's, and also Higgers & Mowen. Hopefully Horwill will be cleared, I see the argument as very similar to Vunipolo on AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper). Both were what appeared a nasty cheap shot, but in neither case does the perpetrator seem to be looking at the 'victim'.

Australia v British & Irish Lions, 3rd Test (Sydney)

I guess I am looking at what his role is, ie the big bopper bending the defensive line a la Willie O, Kefu etc. Now, there was a time when every second time Cliffy took the ball up he made 5/15 meters, running over guys and generally playing havoc. Now he seems to be readily contained, much the...

I guess you can disagree, or make a snide comment! I probably would have made a different choice!

Australia v British & Irish Lions, 3rd Test (Sydney)

Regardless of the stats, Palu just doesn't bend the line like he used to. He did have plenty of carries, but I wouldn't mind betting most of the quoted meters were from where he received the ball behind the gain line to where he met the defence (usually on or just short of the gain line). He had...

Australia v British & Irish Lions, 3rd Test (Sydney)

I'm going down to this with my son, just can't wait! For the team, I would like to see Smith start, Mowen to 8 and Kimlin to 6. If RD won't play Smith, I'd start Gill, either way Hooper comes off the bench. I would also have MMM on the bench, with both Palu and Simmons in their suits in the...

    Waratahs v. B&I Lions - Saturday 15 June 2013

Really enjoyed that game, 40,000 people, a real quality BIL side and an inexperienced Tahs outfit really throwing everything at them. I though Mitchell had an outstanding game, it's hard to imagine he's not among our two or three best wingers. Aside from that, I thought Ulugia had one of his...

    Country v B&I Lions

The point, for those who question it, is rugby. This is what the game is about, this is why we play (or in my case played) the game, for the game itself, the mates, the spirit of the game, getting in and having a go, that's where we come from. Sure, money and TV ratings are a big thing now, but...

    Wallabies Watch

Berrick Barnes, Ben Tapuai, Pat McCabe. Before the S15 season started these three guys would have been the prime contenders for the Wallaby No 12 jumper, now we see none of them in the starting 15 of their respective Super sides. It certainly reflects the different style of rugby the Super...

    Country v B&I Lions

Is it only player currently representing NSW & Qld? Otherwise, you can include Sam Carter (Quirindi) and Ben McCallman (Warren). Kane Douglas is from Yamba, but I imagine he will be in the test squad.

Waratahs vs Chiefs Super Rugby Rd 10, Fri 19 April 2013

I thought that was a massive step forward for the Tahs, although we still have more to do. The continuity we showed when we broke the line was the real step forward, we've been making these breaks in the past, but they have always broken down with the bad pass, dumb chip kick etc, but a lot of...

Waratahs vs Chiefs Super Rugby Rd 10, Fri 19 April 2013

I agree with virtually everything said here. As to the McKibben v Lucas issue, I agree with you, however Chieka has been clear he wants to develop a combination between him and Foley, and he is prepared to allow time for this to happen. Don't know if I agree, but that's his reasoning. As to...
