    Reds 2020

The vast majority of super rugby winning coaches won their first championship within two years of taking over a side. Most of the time success comes quick or it doesn't come at all

And just to add, check out who the former CEO of the premiership works for now. Mark McCafferty negotiated the sale to CVC, promptly resigned and went to work for them. Anyone fully confident that our administrators would never do such a thing?

    Australian Rugby / RA

Cricket showed the way CVC did it with F1. They'll do it with rugby. They'll do it here if we let them ( though I doubt they're interested in our potential revenue, it's our players and opposition for their revenue generating teams that they'll want.)

Thanks. Usual source initially posted last week's number

    Reds v Sharks, Rnd 5 2020, Lang Park Sat 29 7:15 EDST

In our regularly scheduled "that try from a maul wasn't legal" series, I reckon that last reds try will be right up there for least legal try of the year

Ahhh, yeah. He kicked one goal for Toulon in 2016. Hasn't kicked a goal for anyone since. Multiple ankle reconstructions since then.

O'Connor has kicked one goal in the last 5 years of his career. He pretty clearly doesn't want to do it

    Hometown Refs

Just watched the mini-replay of the Rebels game and I reckon I saw 7 penalty advantages to the hurricanes not awarded (the rebs kept infringing in the lead up to tries, or foul play reversed advantages etc) in the 10 or so minutes of highlights alone. No real point other than the penalty count...

    Highlanders v Rebels, RD 5 - 28th Feb

Rebels lineout maul try was a nice bit of deception, and well setup under current interpretations, but just as illegal as any this year. Players coming in from offside way before they are allowed to all over the place

Super Rugby Round 5: Waratahs vs Lions - Friday 28 February 2020 Super Rugby @ BankWest Stadium 7:15pm

Hooper really is incredible. Last pass for the first two tries, including one cutout and a beauty of an offload. Made it all the way across to the other wing and made the tackle and turnover which sparked another try and then was critical part of the lineout move and set up the final quick ruck...

    Wallabies 2020

Do Wallaby assistant coaches get paid more than Super Rugby head coaches?

    Waratahs 2020

World Cup winner Ewen McKenzie could have been!

    Australian Rugby / RA

I wonder how the current tax free status of RA and SANZAR would be impacted if they partner with a for-profit entity?
  15. Strewthcobber

    Australian Rugby / RA

I wonder what price CVC would think was worth paying to buy SANZAR, to convince the competition to allow eligibility from anywhere (ie no Giteau rule). Then facilitate open slather on players from Aus, NZ and SA to play in the premiership while using Super Rugby as a loss leader feeder comp...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Is all of that covered by insurance? Might be better off not playing this year
  17. Strewthcobber

    Australian Rugby / RA

If it helps your calculations, CVC also have a 27% stake in the Premiership, for which they paid GBP 200m in late 2018

    Hometown Refs

No home refs at international level! What top Top 14/Champions Cup do? Much less of a travel problem for them of course
  19. Strewthcobber

    Hometown Refs

The sample size would be way too small to make this worthwhile at the level of betting which occurs on Super Rugby games I'd imagine.

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

Saw this pop up again. Biggar was concussed for a third time against Ireland, and then (somewhat amazingly) lined up against France two weeks later. He was assessed by a concussion expert, but for mine it once again brings into question how much everyone involves really cares about concussion...
