    Tri Nations Game 4 South Africa v Australia - Saturday 13 August 2011 - 3N2011

    1. Higgers was solid without being exceptional. Good enough to get another run, though maybe a better balance would be Samo starting and Higgers on the bench. His hands a couple of times were not great - his pass from the foot of the 5m scrum was a little ropey without being a disaster. He...

    Rocky road ahead for Rocky...........

It was super rugby, but the reds tried to play without a strong fetcher in super rugby couple of times and fell over badly. It's not so much that players like Pocock, Robinson, Waugh et al are going to win you as much ball this year so much as (if they can find the balance in the ref's eyes)...

    He kicks too much.

The positives & failings from Bledisloe 1 2011

+ ABs intensity was very good esp the first half - good to remind the wobs what it takes. Deans is right to imply that was an education. When the going was beyond tough, Horwill and Ioane were able to step up, and I thought that Alexander, Moore and Kepu showed great signs in well beaten...

    Tri Nations Game 3 New Zealand v Australia - Saturday 6 August 2011 - 3N2011

To be fair, McCabe is a little faster over the ground than Chariots, and 15% more likely to pass the ball. He struggled with timing last night, but it takes two to tango, and Cooper was deeper and more random with options. In fact that depth really caused problems for all his runners inc Beale...

    Kicking Coaches.

Give it (the kicking) back to QC (Quade Cooper). Its good for the rest of his game and he is consistently inconsistent in a surprisingly valuable way - he kicks tough 'clutch' kicks more often than you expect. :fishing

That seems both unlikely and a Brumbies coaching tactic. You can keep it.

    Player Ratings Thread

Looking forward to the stats. Horwill's was immense and effective. Carries, tackles, rucks, backing up the (very) occasional break. And he gave the halftime comment to Kafe. Moore, Kepu, Alexander, Pocock were more workmanlike than dominant, but better than Simmons, who seemed to do a lot of...

The positives & failings from Bledisloe 1 2011

He was no chance of not being turned over on his goal line. They were already way behind. A successful pass to JOC (James O'Connor) and a break down field is a big turnaround. Thats what I thought he was doing. Holding the ball and conceding a try is just about as bad as it gets, outcome-wise.

At least one effective one would be useful.

Thats Cooper. Playing catch up, he becomes redonculous. But did it cost them? No - same result, 5m scrum.

    It's all in the details

The wallabies are exploring the wrong way to do stuff, so when the right way comes along they will look fucking brilliant.

Wallaby 40 metre sprint- How fast is fast?

I think it is almost as fast as the time it took a Samoan winger to move him 40m in a tackle. Poor bastard, I feel sorry for him.

Wallaby 40 metre sprint- How fast is fast?

Rod Davies apparently went a little faster in pre-season - 4.59 seconds.

Wallaby tight five - boys or men?

And that MacKenzie will reap the benefits of the current nebulous coaching paradigm. And that people will naively infer that coaching the wallabies with purpose rather than playing 'Pick-up Sticks' with positions and selections was the reason.

Wallaby tight five - boys or men?

The backline was pretty solid through the game defensively, with or without Higginbotham. ::) Soft tries through the "guts" are disconcerting and are a mark against the forwards on the field at that stage. Apart from Higginbotham. Of course.
