    QLD Premier Rugby 2014

I disagree Filth. The extra "tier" will allow the cream to rise to the top. I'd prefer for it to be hard for guys to make the next step up rather than trying to find guys to fill spots. Also the top 5 model will create an unbalanced comp locally as all the players will be attracted to the top...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

A mate of mine did his masters and PHD at Swinburne Uni because they sponsored the Hawks. He's a rare case though and his PHD was based on AFL statistics so there is a link. There are lots of benefits for Universities to link with sporting teams if they have a high involvement in schools. They...

if there are no Brisbane nominations in the EOI stage and the QRU don't get involved they are being negligent in my view. Their charter is to run and promote rugby in Qld. If they don't assist or manage a team, hopefully 2, in the NRC I think they would be going against this.

If you look at the other national comps in Aust it has been a case of building an audience to justify the spend for TV. The A-League started on Foxtel only and is now shown on SBS, one game a week on Friday. The Big Bash was on Foxtel only but kicks off on Ten this Friday. Rugby is given a...

There can be quite a bit of strategy and momentum in 7's. Most people think it's all about going wide but you can be very effective with big runners going up the middle and having some speedy guys thrive off offloads.

Wallabies: Looking to the World Cup...

He's one of the guys I think can push for a spot in the RWC 30. Is a genuine try scorer.

Higgers, Beale and possibly JOC (James O'Connor) would add some value to the squad too. Palu could push for the notch down group if he can have 12 months injury free. I would argue that Simmons is our best exponent at line out currently. If he can sort out his aggression, as in how he uses it, then he will...

Wallabies: Looking to the World Cup...

There has been talk of expanding the Wallaby Gold program to Under 19 to help with a pathway for the JRWC. This would be a better solution in my eyes than a U21 comp. Players will still have the SS and Premier Rugby to develop their skills after JRWC before making a NRC team.

Connor Mitchell for 7, been really impressed the 2 times I've watched him play. Cornelsen for 8? Never seen him play but heard some good things.

    Reds 2014

Dion was on the verge of walking away from rugby in 2013 but took up a contract to play in Italy. Plenty of talent but I don't think we will ever see him reach his full potential.

To'omua played juniors for Beenleigh. Closest I saw JOC (James O'Connor) come to club rugby was when he played for the Hunt family team in a 7's tournament at Sunnybank in his last year of school, would have played somewhere on the coast when younger. I'm not a Mullins fan, but haven't seen him play in a while...

That's not making me happy Reg. Makes sense though. Just with the back line I named I want a backs coach who could make the most of it.

TT so good to have you back. I had to double check that I hadn't missed Christmas. Here's who I'd pick in the South Brisbane Brothel Goers 1. Anae 2. Ready 3. Holmes 4. Bennett 5. Enever 6. Quirk 7. Robinson/Gunn 8. Schatz 9. Evans 10. B Lucas 11. Lepierre 12. Tapuai 13. CFS/White 14. Placid...

It might be seen as a development for Super assistant coaches to see if they are up to the next level. Premier coaches can then be available as NRC assistant coaches?

I think that they have been deliberately vague so that they can say it was open up to everyone. They will install teams in the areas that they want.

Wallabies to play Great Britain Rugby League team.......... ugh.........

Interesting about the Philippines, the only team to compete in a World Cup in any sport was their 7's team at the Sevens World Cup in Moscow earlier in the year. You'd like to think the sport could grow off that. Also Rugby has a good presence in the West Indies so I can't see league being...

While I understand this point of view there are other avenues that the ARU could go down to get coverage. Streaming of games online should be something that is explored. The NBL do it and I'm sure if I went looking there would be a host of other sports overseas that also do it. I think we need...

Yeah I didn't think you were. The Aces idea has to be one of the worst in Aust sport.

I'm cool with a team based at Ballymore, it makes sense. I just can't come at the East Coast Aces thing. South Brisbane Drop Bears would be good. I have a soft spot for the Brisbane Banditos, with jersey sublimation as it is these days then the jersey could look like club leathers and they could...
