3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

I actually like the idea. Put up or shut up in my view. Rugby has been dying in Australia while its going gangbusters overseas. Something needs to be done. I'd love a club like Balmain to get a license. They have just changed the rules of subbies rugby because these guys can afford to pay...

    Reds 2014

I played against him when he made a comeback in 1999 so he could play in the World Cup for Fiji. One of the highlights in my average rugby career. Helped that we won 44-10 on that day.

It's that mythical creature on the Reds jersey.

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

It would be great if we could get back on topic guys. Players to watch out for. I'm not worried who they play for or where they are based. We have a couple of other threads to debate the pros and cons of the structure. I wanted to get away from that and focus on the guys who will benefit.

    Reds 2014

I would go as far to say Quade is better than Horan…………………………… at 10.

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

I think it's a different case with the elite players. Once you reach the professional level you should be paid a salary and a per match expense. Club land is a different beast.

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

Surely if a club did have a contract with a player it would be around match payments rather than upfront payments? If a club were to pay 4 guys $10K a year and they were all injured then the club has wasted $40K. Better to pay them per match so the guys on the field each week are getting...

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

Another player to watch out for is Ben Adams. Ben has been around the Aust 7's squad for the past 2-3 seasons but has had a shocking run of knee injuries. His contract wasn't renewed for 2014 but I think it will allow him to focus on playing 15's again.

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

No he's training and keen to get back into playing next year. I spoke to his girlfriend this morning about him. The conversation was the reason I started the thread.

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

Nigel Ah Wong is now playing in Japan so don't think he'll be involved. Rex is probably too old now days. He might be worth a shot and would no doubt do well but I think an investment in youth might be better.

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

I'll start with one. Henry Taefu. He played 12 for Aust U20's this year after returning to rugby in 2012 and performing well in the Sunnybank Premier team. He spent some time with Parra and the Broncos in the League U20's comp after leaving school. He had a shoulder op on his return from...

    Women's Rugby Union

I'm guessing the Women's national Championships are on the back burner again in 2014. Nominations for QLD rep team coaching positions are out and Women's XV's isn't included. I would love it if the ARU made it a annual event as it would send a positive message to all involved in the women's game.

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

Now that the 3rd tier is becoming a reality I thought we should move the conversation away from how the competition should be run to the actual goal of the thing. Who are the players who will benefit from the competition? It would be great if people could write a little bio on guys we should...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

If players have moved to Perth or Melbourne for opportunity then it doesn't make sense that they move back to Sydney or Brisbane for this comp.

    QLD Premier Rugby 2014

I think Logan will play clubs when Premier play the Breakers. A club bye would be great twice a season.

The Impending Beale vs Folau vs Cooper debate

By the time the Wallabies next play I think Beale will be in the frame, as long as there are no other issues with behaviour and injury. Link has always talked highly about Beale and the time they spent together at the Tah's. I get the impression that he feels he could have won the title with...

The Impending Beale vs Folau vs Cooper debate

And he can jump so he'd be great in the line out. I think we're onto something here.:D

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

Talk of games against Pacific nations teams before the JRWC. NZ and SA apparently turned down an offer for games. At least they are looking at playing someone other than PNG.

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

I know quite a few players who would happily move around for a chance to play at a higher level. Lots of them work in low skilled roles so they are used to changing jobs when work dries up. They would see this in a similar light but with a chance to showcase their rugby skills.
