Wallabies v France, Paris, Sun 6th Nov 7am AEDT

I'd like to know who these 5 candidates for No 15 are. Kellaway and Hodge are only two who spring to mind. Petaia is a poor option with very little actual playing time at 15 and is still somewhat inferior to Wright. Wright himself is not anywhere near as good as Banks. Is Maddocks suddenly back...

National U16 and U19 match discussion.

Good day out for the Brumbies U16s and U19s in Melbourne. U16s final score 31 - 19 to the Brumbies. U19s final score 34 - 0 to Brumbies. Half time score 3 - 0. Some serious talent in both U19s sides. Godfrey had another strong game at No 8, but playing a lot of the second half in the second...

Why would we be lucky when the opposition is pinged for illegal play? Far too often the Wallabies are the side beaten by penalty goals and I don't think too many of those winners are considered to be lucky.

Dru, what's with the 7:2 bench split you and Qwerty are talking about? Only 8 on the bench last I saw. I agree with you about the lineout. It operated good. But I'm not so sure about Porecki. He only had one or two lineout losses (overthrow on one had to be down to him) while FF (Folau Fainga'a) lost none I can...

    GAGR Wallaby POTY v Scotland

    3. Frost 2. Valetini 1. Holloway Not a game for the backs. Ikitau and McDermott best out there.

Not to disappoint you KOB, but this was not a game for the backs - any of them. Banks was hardly involved but neither was Campbell when he came on. I do agree that there are other options. Kellaway, on this game where he had a less than ordinary outing (probably worst of our backline) is better...

    Aussie Player Exodus

The resurrection of Aus A would probably have worked in Jack Dempsey's favour had he stayed here. It is a vehicle for players returning from injury as well as those showing promise. Perhaps a pity that didn't happen earlier although as others have pointed out, the backrow seems to be one area of...

AAA followed by McReight looks like the next 8 - 10 years covered I think. In all the feel good about Michael Hooper returning, it has been mentioned plenty of times in the past that he has been one of, if not the most, losing captains the Wallabies and fans have endured. It will be a good move...

    Wallabies 2023

BH I reckon stop giving away a plethora of penalties and hence gifting territory, possession and points, in the first 20 - 30 minutes might be a good start.

    Wallabies 2023

So true, but I always put that down to actually playing some rugby in those dying minutes when chasing points, rather than the kickathon (aka play for territory) that our game plan seems to embrace for the first 50 - 60 minutes.

Wallabies v Scotland, Murrayfield, Sun 30th Oct, 3.30am AEDT

Imperatives for me would be to ensure Noah Lolesio gets as much game time as possible in the lead up to the RWC, to bring injured players back and overseas-based players introduced via the bench, to play the strongest halves combination available, and to give opportunity to those who are showing...

    Wallabies 2023

I have a couple of Magill Estates, not Barossa but a single vineyard shiraz from Penfolds in Adelaide (no longer available I understand), and a few Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier waiting for a RWC or Bledisloe victory.

Very partial to any McLaren Vale Shiraz. LFG not available locally - export only.

    Wallabies 2023

I think I recall the "once and for all" comment being posted before his selections last year on the EOYT. I fear if he doesn't perform the same comment will be made before the RWC next year to justify some poster's urge to have him in the WC squad.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Dru, Isn't one of the three NSW sides already included in you first 6 teams? If so, then only increases to 8, not 9.

Yep, pull back on the head butt by 5% and he wouldn't have even been close to contact.

Wallabies v Scotland, Murrayfield, Sun 30th Oct, 3.30am AEDT

Wright, more than any other current Wallaby, plays "what's in front of him". His tap and go is an example, and probably should have resulted in a penalty to the Wallabies nearly ten metres further up field for the defence failure to retreat. And is he really at fault for making a move that took...

    Wallabies 2023

If I'm not mistaken Pat Tafa partnered (what'sisname now with the Reds) in the second row at Norths and probably was the pick of the two.

Our best chance of a good result will largely depend on our early game discipline. We have a habit of gifting opposition sides with territory and points in the first 20 - 30 minutes. That has to stop for us to be a chance.
