    Reds 2023

From very limited viewing, I thought both those boys looked pretty impressive in the u18s last year. From memory the Reds scrum was impressive. Good pick ups. But, yeah, doesn’t help us this year.

I’d agree with that. And, for the record, I’d have preferred the persisted with him then keep rolling out Foley - but there is obviously reasons they didn’t. I’m happy enough they gave Donaldson a crack too though. I’m not sure he is actually the next most likely to succeed but, like Lolesio was...

So do you think Coleman was right to drop Nawaqanitwase at the start of the year?

    Wallabies 2023

If he is good enough to make it this year, that’s fine. I would’ve thought 23-24 was about the norm for a test player getting their first run. We have debutted a lot of kids over the last 3 years but there are some pretty obvious reasons for that. Anyhow, I get that he isn’t too young - but he...

Interesting. I don’t really know anything about Seu. Will be interested how it all pans out.

At super level - yes. He’s definitely quick enough and would appear to me to be agile enough.

Would you go Hooper-Harris-Swinton Qeerty? Or do you have Gleeson in your best backrow? (I’m assuming Hanigan & Holloway will both play lock). Also - thoughts on the bench forward? Coleman will have the luxury of rotating his troops a bit without too much drop in quality - but I reckon at...

    Wallabies 2023

That may well happen. But what are you suggesting - we pick him now to keep him happy? Carter Gordon is a 21 year old professional rugby fly half. He is about to enter his first year as the appointed starting 10 at his Super rugby team. He is a talented kid and may well have a huge future for...

I don’t think so. But I may well be the only one. In any case Tahs back row will be very strong and that should include their bench.

    Wallabies 2023

You could well be right - but I won’t be surprised if Swinton is at 6 and Harris will at 8. Gleeson and/or Gamble as finishers.

Charlie Gamble appears the new crowd favourite. But is he actually in the best Tahs backrow if everyone is fit?

    Wallabies 2023

From what I saw this year I think Carter Gordon is still a year or two away where he needs to be to be in contention. He seemed to play too laterally from what I saw. But I do think he has all the skills needed - possibly the best core skills of all of the contenders. I know Rennie cops a lot...

    Wallabies 2023

I will add that I think it is promising that the only discussion points seem to be around a few fringe guys who may or may not be able to force their way back in. After the last few years it is very hard to have any level of confidence going into the year. But, if we can have a kinder run with...

    Wallabies 2023

You’re probably right - but I would argue he was mostly ineffective rather than ‘extra-special bad’ although he did have a shocker off the bench. Certainly Foley was no better IMO. But he was more involved. We’re talking about a position where we have a serious issue. Our first choice is injured...

    Wallabies 2023

Is Rennie actually shackling him though. It didn’t seem that Cooper had any problems getting the ball when he wanted it. My understand was O’Connor was dropped specifically for not demanding more ball and flattening up the attack. I certainly thought both Lolesio and Foley had periods when...

    Wallabies 2023

I agree with most of this - certainly the general assessment of O’Connor and his ability. But, on the flip side, he hasn’t outperformed Hodge at Test level in the last 2 years. He’s been poor. I would assume he has been severely impaired by injury but, nonetheless, he has almost refused to play...

    Wallabies 2023

You’d think Swinton, Latu, Fa’amausili and possibly even O’Connor are still a chance. Although O’Connor definitely seems on the outer. I know he was sub par at test level but given they tolerance shown to others I can’t help but wonder if there is a bit more to it.
