I'm just thinking of the reaction if 5 new boys had turned up in the Newington 15As.:)
  2. Quick Hands

    NSW AAGPS 2019

Joeys will always be tough to beat and the 15As will be expecting a very tough game when it happens (first round of GPS IIRC), as have both the 13A and 14A games in the past two years. Interesting that Joeys will have at least 5 new faces in their 15A team from an "intake";)

R7: Waratahs vs Sunwolves - Friday 29 March @ Newcastle

Your blind faith in RA and it's decisions is admirable. However, one could suggest that there's no particular evidence that we should have any faith that they know what they are doing. It's logical to manage workload as I said in my previous post, it's just that recent empirical evidence...

Yes it is complex. I would point out that "off-season" involves active rest and no high intensity or contact work. The RL off-season is about 6-8 weeks depending on where the team came not the 4 months that you asserted. Then they are into pre-season, which is high intensity and heavy contact.

Always nice to start the season with a win Joker, but while I'm sure that the Joeys boys looked very good, lets for a moment pause to consider the relative strength of the opposition. I'm sure the Canberra boys are wonderful Marist rugby players, but clearly outclassed. Joeys 13A 72 Canberra...

Newington sent the 15As to the Canberra Grammar School 7s yesterday and the boys won the competition.

So the "no off-season" comment is thus irrelevant because elite athletes spend more time in high intensity training than in games. Yes, both those codes do manage workload during the season, but it is managed in the training regime, not by missing matches. Read my previous response to...

Firstly, you're safe in the knowledge that I'll never be in charge. But nobody on this thread, including you, have provided any empircal evidence from any study that having a weekend off in March is going to improve performance in October. Bearing in mind that the competition is barely 6 weeks...

Not really, they each have high intensity training blocs for 6 weeks from the start of November until just before Christmas. They resume full training mid-January for trials in February or pre-season competition in AFL. You're dreaming if you think either code has 4 month off-seasons where...

R7: Waratahs vs Sunwolves - Friday 29 March @ Newcastle

They have big end of season games at the end of September/early October, which are about 2 weeks before the start of RWC, which starts mid-October. League and AFL finals series games are just as intense as RWC games - in fact more intense as there is a finals intensity game 4 weeks in a row...

I'll bet there is none. The idea of having a weekend off in March to help prepare for a tournament in October/November is bonkers.

No, I'm following forum rules and only copying the part of the original post which is relevant to my reply. See rule 5 5. Don't overuse the quote function. Usually it is quite clear what you are responding to. If you do use the quote function, edit out irrelevant text, leaving just the bit...

Which is probably why only about 2% of the infrastructure budget is for stadia.

Hmm, you realise that the whole team had a "rest" aka a bye on the weekend of the 2nd March and the whole team have another "rest" coming up on the weekend of the 13 April when another bye occurs? Obviously such specific tasks can't be done in these weeks? And the competition has only been going...

"Rested" because they miss 1 game? That's the more ludicrous proposition.

They'll get plenty of rest during the super rugby finals.
