Rd 8: NSFW Waratahs vs The Auckland Blues

If you want to describe yourself as an armchair muppet, go right ahead. I wouldn't use that term to describe you or anyone else on these threads. I actually find it quite odd that people become so resentful when they are asked to produce evidence to support what they want others to believe...

Rd 8: NSFW Waratahs vs The Auckland Blues

There is plenty of research and all the ones that I have read recently indicate that resting players during the competition phase can actually lead to an increased risk of injury as the body's routine of exercise and recovery is interrupted. This is why I have asked to be referred to studies...

Nobody said he was. People are just asking for published scientific evidence to support what's happening. As yet nobody has produced any research or study on which things are based.

That's not what I was alluding to. I was talking about this statement: I can guarantee you this isn't just some guy standing on the sideline speculating about what he thinks is a good idea.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

This is gold, pure gold. I hope he didn't have a straight face when he was saying it. "[Chairman Roger Davis] and I are of the opinion that we are not being heard, communication is not transparent and our interests are not being served by the current organisation. I'll give you a tip...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

As many of us have been saying, they should have had a Plan B 2 years ago.

You make some sensible points, although I'd be interested in how you came to the conclusion in the last sentence.

That's the thing. His approach to fitness and training has never been particularly scientific and now we're asked to believe that he's employing cutting edge S & C programmes (without any scientific evidence to support any of it)

Wow, you've come out of left field with this one. Break out the tin foil hats. So, now people asking for evidence to support an assertation are engaged in some sort of cosmic conspiracy to bring down RA. From my observations, RA need no help in stuffing things up.

Well, I can read and if something has been scientifically examined by qualified experts I can read what they say and come to a conclusion based on evidence rather than emotion. Usually these papers are published somewhere by universities etc. and are available to be read by all of us in these...

Do you have any knowledge of the research or studies upon which they are acting? Or is this just a question of faith?

As I understand it, anyone who is under 18 can be selected in the team, whether or not they are at school. My assuption re the academies is that they will have the opportunity to participate in the Aust Schools Championships, but this isn't really clear so I'm happy to be corrected on this.

Once they got the combinations going in the last half of 2018, the Newington backs in teh 1sts scored some magnificent tries. I think all are back this year.

The most recent evidence suggests that 'resting' players from games has no positive impact on injury, in fact it may well be a negative as players in competition have their routine interrupted by the rest and could be more prone to injury in the following week.

^^^^Rob Egerton's ongoing work with the 13As team and the 13s age group has been critical to the improvement of the Newington rugby programme. The school is so lucky to have someone of that calibre who wants to work with the 13s age group.

OK Spieber, I acknowledge your obsession with the Newington 2013 side, so just so you have the full facts I'll answer your questions. I think that the answers might surprise you. 7 boys from the Newington 1st XV of 2103 went on to play 1st grade Shute Shield, plus another boy whose family...

    NRC onwards and upwards

I don't think anybody, least of all RA, has ever set out precisely what the NRC is for - which is why it's failing. If the purpose was/is to raise the standard of super rugby teams, then it's failed, if it was to build a higher profile for rugby, then it's failed in that too.

Agree with everything you have said RH. Note that much of it could also be applied to the NSWRU and other state RUs. Re the part of your post that I have copied here. This is a damning indictment and says very conscisely what is going wrong with the game in Australia. We have all these...
