    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

Michael Carter, a consultant paediatric neurosurgeon based in Bristol, wrote earlier in the month in the British Medical Journal about the subject and mentioned: Anyone who has spent an hour picking skull fragments out of the contused frontal lobes of a teenage rugby player is entitled to an...

    Waratahs 2015

At Darceyville last year the coaches were attached to the ARU - if I recall correctly. There wouldn't be a squad yet. They are mainly guys from the Sydney comp not already attached to the Waratahs, but at Darceyville (against the NSW U20s) they had a couple of invited players from elsewhere...

2015 IRB Junior Rugby World Cup - Italy

Some fellows get overlooked when they shouldn't have been but there were some pretty good wingers in GPS that year, as there are most years, and some develop faster than their peers when they leave school, and even overtake them. It just proves that you don't have to be a rep schoolboy star to...

Later news. There is a game between GenBlue (seniors) and Aus Barbarians. It's a curtain raiser to the Tahs v Chiefs trial at Campbelltown Friday 6 February and starts at 5.15. The main game is on at 7.30pm. I don't know whether this is a Gen Blue warm-up game for a B team tournament, or a...

Sorry - I misunderstood the question before—the NSW Under 20s are called the Gen Blue Colts. I don't even know that there is such a thing as a competition between the Super Rugby B-teams this year. Has anybody heard mention of it? If not, I will ask on Tuesday. If it is on I think it will...

    Reds 2015

Back attack. He had the job for the England team. But as Rugby Director at Irish and head coach elsewhere he would know a lot about other stuff. I knew he was coming back and if he can get a coaching gig at the Reds or elsewhere in Australia, it can't help but benefit us. .

    Aussie Player Exodus

Sorry to disagree but I think they have SFA power over the clubs. .

Very profound Sully - keep up the good work son. (Geez am I on fire - or what?) .

That is a pitiful effort to big note yourself RugbyReg. I saw the video and the T-Shirt is a prized possession. Quade looked one way, went the other, and you fell for it……three times - correct me if I am wrong - it could have been four. .

They also have a trial hit-out planned against three Sydney clubs on 31 Jan. There will be three x 30 minute sessions against Randwick, Sydney Uni and Parramatta. It's not official yet because the venue has to be arranged. .

Correct He's lost it that's for sure. He was the first one back for the EOYT Wallabies though Beale was back early too. As I mentioned a couple of times - the trainers flogged Will. I'll do a blog later and try to put a photo of him in in it if I have any decent ones of him - I'm a crap...

Faaaarque me dead - Will Skelton was the star of the hill session this morning if you count speed for weight. He's extremely fit. .

No you are not the only one. The trouble for Jed is that skipper Dave Dennis will be in front to him for this notter (lock and 6) role, and Jackpot is a bit of a notter himself. As for no. 8, Palu and Gray are ahead of him as specialists. Jed is one that is right for the picking by overseas...

    Waratahs 2015

Andrew Kellaway told me that he'd be happy to play anywhere - but outside centre would be his favoured position; so it's possible that he may end up there and not be "another winger". Clunies-Ross is a "keeper". .

    Waratahs 2015

That's good point about reduced game time because of the RWC but is it an official policy? I don't think that Dempsey will get much game time with the Tahs because McCutcheon has a similar player profile if a reserve is needed - though you never know if there are two injuries. Waratahs...

Perret is too old and had a go in the training group and got on the park with little effect. Hickie got a go also. Dempsey is a good lineout catcher; he'll do me. Lock is a position of weakness and there is not a lot of goodies around. Philip is tall enough, but is a skinny 106 kgs. .

And Lance could back all of them up. If any other Oz team has better cover at 10 they will be doing well. There are a lot of good ones around aren't there, but his training form has been terrific. He is reminding me of the Wales' captain, Sam Warburton for his work rate, accuracy and...

    Waratahs 2015

^^^^^^^^ Stewart would have been the next guy picked and there will surely be a spot open for him next year with Ashley-Cooper going offshore. They like having a bit of experience out wide, but maybe Carraro will be replaced too. And Stewart seems to play either centre position with equal...
