Super 15... but where are our passionates?

Don't knock Tah Man. He costs next-to-nothing, except maybe when he arrives by helicopter, and the kids love him. He won't save the Tahs single-handedly, but he's an ornament to the game nonetheless.

    Scrum Talk

I'm guessing each team has a chart defining the average time each ref takes between Pause and Engage. Nigel Owens on the weekend seemd quite happy to let the packs engage slightly before his call when the hit was simultaneous - almost as though he wanted to let them play the game. Shocking. Then...

NRL: Considering a Raid on 'Vulnerable Rugby'?

Come on. A couple of old leaguies (no disrespect to you, nonetheless, Ray Price) wish they had the money to buy some union players, and suddenly it's a Very Real Threat to rugby and all it stands for? Just ignore them. Benny has his own financial problems to deal with in court - not someone to...

    Waratahs 2011

Well, that's part of the beauty of rugby - I don't there are any stats which "objectively" define a player. Run/kick/pass/tackle/gain line type stats only tell part of the story.

    Waratahs 2011

Exactly. And every coach who puts him on the team sheet does so knowing exactly what they will get, every time. And that's a big compliment, given what we've seen from some supposedly more talented players.

Gits and Drew getting ready to face the Boks...by playing 3rd div subbies.

This article is exactly the sort of publicity rugby needs, especially whilst the Wallabies are in yet another mid-season break. Three-quarters of a page, inside back of the Tele, woking man goes up against sporting hero? Gold.

    Australian Rugby's Market Share/Popularity

Actually that article's by Richard Hinds, who focuses more on these "big picture" type articles, especially on the AFL. No question that the ARU fumbled the post-2003 period. But he makes no mention of the Super 15 which, to harp on an earlier post, has the most "upside" for professional rugby...

    Suncorp Stadium Atmosphere Lacking

What proportion of the crowd is there on corporate tickets? I'm sure higher than a Reds game. A great way to kill atmosphere in my experience - though obviously a good fundraiser.

    Australian Rugby's Market Share/Popularity

How do they measure "market share" as referred to in this article? I agree the Wallabies need to be winning for Australian rugby to look healthy, but I think most of the potential for growth lies at the state level and below - the Super 15 is going to be critical.
