    Robot Scrum Machine

Sounds like Groucho has the inside running on the software side, so just give him, Bruce and TPN 100K each and we're all set. But honestly, is there any chance they really built this for 275K? Even if it's all based on some other platform, eg a full-motion flight sim, that doesn't sound like much.

    Greg Inglis?

I don't think we need another mungo who hangs around for a couple of years, turns out not to be as miraculously good as we expected, and then heads off to Europe or back to league. Yes, some size in the centres would be nice, but can he defend there?

    Name the game

What a fantastic game that was - I was there, too, perhaps just a few rows in front of the Jarses by the sound of it. Man, those seats were a long way from the field. My strongest memory is of sitting there with my head in my hands after the third NZ try, surrounded by bloody Kiwis as always...

    Italy vs Wallabies, EOYT 2010

Has anyone got a clip of that tackle by QC (Quade Cooper) on Castrogiovanni (I think) in the open? Congrats on the commitment level, but wow, that technique looked like a recipe for having your head driven into the turf by 120kg of prop.

    Quade Cooper and Summer Digressions

Yes, it seems Mike Singletary might be best suited to an assistant coach role rather than head coach, although they've had some good weeks lately with Troy Smith as QB. Singletary can tackle and knows about commitment - perhaps Robbie might put a call in if he does get dropped by the 49ers...

    Quade Cooper and Summer Digressions

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB5-yJM3vJc Now I hope that's embedded the right video, but that's what I call a coach-to-player bollocking. And the main subject of that blast now has the respect of his coach and his team-mates. "Can't watch Quade attempt another front-on tackle -...

    Quade Cooper and Summer Digressions

True - it was he who was being rotated out of the defensive line when he first played 10 for the Tahs. But did anyone expect his ability, on both sides of the ball, to rise so rapidly since the last couple of rounds of the Super 14 this year? He's the perfect example of someone who's capitalised...

    Quade Cooper and Summer Digressions

KB (Kurtley Beale) can slot into 10 when we have the ball too, and do a pretty decent job, I'd say. Quade can then reposition on the bench. Gits isn't the only alternative 10 in the squad. Robbie's tough talk is welcome, but he might have to back it up with actions to show that he's serious.

    Robot Scrum Machine

So Bruce, for someone who's never trained with big steel machines, what does Tom Carter's 400kg mean? I mean, I can push a car weighing more than 400 kg horizontally, but this machine's obviously providing more resistance than that.

    Robot Scrum Machine

But whilst a front-rower may be exerting all his influence through his shoulders and bind, he is pivoting not only through the line of his shoulders, but also his spine, hips and knees - I think that's where super-computer complexity that Bruce refers to comes in. Just as importantly, the...

    Scrum - Wallabies Vs Wales

Lee - were you watching on Ch7? The sound and pictures for me were horribly out of sync, with the sound a couple of seconds behind. Very distracting at scrum time, but yes, it definitely looked like both sides were driving forward simultaneously most of the time.

If the ARC was to ever develop, or come again

Origin would be interesting, but wouldn't ever happen because it'd weaken the image of the Waratahs and Reds if you had different, "real" NSW and QLD teams running around. Good thread though, I like to see what ideas people have out there for this. I think it has to use the current comps, clubs...

    Pre-Season Training at the Tahs

Yes, John Grant was only a fraction behind Lachie in the Gatorade Bolt a while back, so plenty of depth in speed it seems. To rehash on what was said on the thread about that race, it would be great to see an honest straight-up sprint race between the top Aussie candidates. I'm still drunk...

    Pre-Season Training at the Tahs

They'll all need to be fast to keep up with a back 3 of Turner, Beale and Mitchell. Would there be a quicker combination anywhere?

    Commonwealth Games Rugby 7s

Ouch. The final finished on one/ten right about 11pm.

Nathan Grey - Skills Coach at the Rebs

Well, you're right Naza that it'll always be hard to judge the worth of an assistant coach, but it's going to be a point of interest to compare Bernie Larkham's efforts in Canberra against Grey's efforts in Melbourne.

Physical imposition rugby – the Sydney University system

Ah, well, yes, one can find a meaning for just about any collection of letters, Bruce - words like "healthful", "verbage", "irregardless" and "pro-active" hang out in those places, wasting valuable space. But does "innovatory" give us anything that "innovative' doesn't? I'm all for new words -...

Physical imposition rugby – the Sydney University system

Innovatory? What is that? Innovato-revolutionary? In the lavatory? Does the inbuilt human need for innovation extend to the word innovative itself?

    The Haka

Was it the Scots last year who wouldn't break ranks after the haka until the Kiwis did? I'm sure it didn't help their performance, but it looked impressive.

Ref's; what makes 'em good, what should they be trying to do.

Exactly. In the NFL, for example, refereeing "crews" work together for a whole season or more. Much better understanding of what the main ref wants from his assistants, etc.
