    CAS Rugby 2011

From memory he played quite well there, I don't think he would let the side down. With Clark and Clunies-Ross (sic) the selectors may have gone with him to get more of a Trinity combination going in the backs. As a unit, their backs have been quite good and thus it probably makes sense to...

    Reds vs Brumbies, 2011R16

You would think that with a raft of senior horsies' players leaving you would try to get some of the younger guys as much game time as possible. It may help them retain some of the younger talent and not let them get picked up by other teams due to them not having sufficient opportunities with...

    Force v Highlanders 2011R16

What are the conditions forecast to be like? If it is dire, wet, cold, windy and miserable the Force could do this. Their forwards are quite strong and I liked the look of their new 9 and 10 combination last week.

    Reds Creating Something Special?

One thing about the Reds is that when you watch them they look like they are enjoying playing the game. And that sort of feeling has carried across to the supporters and viewers.

Video: Judiciary looks into Rhodes collar and Deysel throttle

Would have still liked for Piutau to have got something for his punches. It was retaliation and foul play. Regardless of any mitigating circumstances for the retaliation (and from my reffing experience I can't remember that section of the Law that covers players' making up the laws to suit...

    Reds v. Crusaders, May 29th, Suncorp - 2011R15

In terms of the reffing I think all non-NSW sides will have issues with Stu Dickenson. (May have had a spelling error there...). However the issue is not due to any inherent bias, but SD does have a style of refereeing that is a little unique. He can be a liitle pedantic and thus those...

Yes, it would sum the game up. Not only was the kicking endless, but of a poor quality. In some ways the Knox forwards matched the Trinity forwards, especially in the first half. Though smaller, arguably more skillful. However, whatever was said by the respective coaches at half time came...

one thing though is that the 2nds seem to be able to score tries with greater ease than the 1sts.....

    The ARC 4 years on

I was at that game as well. I missed a lot of the second half queueing for beers. I got the impression that the organisers where both surprised and almost embarrassed at the success of that game. There were a lot of supporters, it was a great day in the sun and North Sydney Oval is a great...

    CAS Rugby 2011

In a rather dull game Knox accounted for Cranbrook 34 - 0. Cranbrook took it to Knox initially but failed to make any impression in attack. Both sides seemed reluctant to use their backs effectively with kicking or running the ball back into the forwards. Knox seem to give away a lot of...

Probably too early in the season to say. Though I think it will be closer this year than last...no stand out side like there was with Barker last year. Trinity and Knox probably shade the others, but injuries could play a role. And to use a cliche, "on their day" any side could beat another.

    Rugby - not set pieces

About the only thing you can say about Growden these days Bruce is that he doesn't even hide the fact that he no longer cares about his Rugby articles. I think he is just robotically going through the motions waiting to move on to some other part of the paper where he can better utilise his skills.

Has anyone any ideas about the current injury concerns of the various teams? Who is out and when they will be back in? I think that injury and depth could be a deciding factor in the make-up of the ladder for this year's comp...notwithstanding some of the results of the first round.

    Rugby - not set pieces

Isn't that one of those unspoken Golden Rules (or Laws, as we are talking about Rugby) that if the referee's call benefitted your side then he (or she) did indeed get the call right?

    Rugby - not set pieces

My only kicking experiences where with the old fashioned football - all leather. (Yes - I played back in the days where football boot were high-cut, only ever black and we wore proper jerseys: nice heavy cotton ones. ) The old leather ones were enigmatic marvels of aerodynamics, so much so that...

    CAS Rugby 2011

Well I definitely agree with this...hopefully no degradation of the thread into Sportal territory. From my rather uninformed opinion, I think this year will be fairly close, so there could be dark horses. Though the normal sides will be there, some indifferent pre-season form and injuries...

    CAS Rugby 2011

Wow...not a bad injury toll before the season proper has even started. The management of that football side must be quite impressed with their efforts in keeping a side intact. Hopefully the injuries are nothing too bad and all are back for the next game.

Any further injuries to the Knox side? The Knox forwards to seem do be under-powered at the moment.
