No doubt he's past his best, he's still the best option by a considerable margin. So you take the good with the bad. He's undoubtedly won a few games for them this year. Obviously he plays better with front foot ball,of which there was little in 2nd half.

Nah this was an unforced replacement of a replacement, it was either pure panic or a temper tantrum.

game of 2 halves for him, he was on fire before oranges, and poison after. He threw an intercept for one try, and threw a horrible long ball to the touchy instead if exiting, which set up the 10 minutes of scrums that cost them any chance.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Reds & Tahs crowds have also fallen off a cliff, so they should both go as well? Maybe the issue lies beyond these specific teams?

You don't need an excuse. It's not a cult. If less than 10k show up to a finals match, don't blame the supporters. Something is seriously wrong with the product you are providing. Address that or die.

Holmes does over do it, but he is 1/2 their points every week. They may not be able to win it with him,but they cannot win without him. That game was won and lost in the coaching box. Coleman continues to pick the 2, despite his appalling stats on lineouts. Subbing the prop late in the game...

I'd say the message is that the Tahs have lost relevance with the rank & file punters. I really doubt that the Tahs would draw a crowd of that size at Rat Park under similar conditions.

That's what the winners did. The losers strategically replaced their TH prop. Then strategically replaced the replacement. The 3rd prop was subsequently yellow carded, requiring the original prop to finish the game. Maybe there's a lesson about "strategies" there?

    Waratahs 2018

Not quite, I did qualify it by saying paying customers. 7300 was the official crowd, which is a lot more reliable than that figures the Tahs claim.(and their 10k includes 000's of SCG members who don't pay) The standard of the Comp has improved over past 5 years. There was plenty of tribalism...

Delaying the replacement of a failed coach will cost more than you save in wages. It puts the rebuild back an extra year, and continues to erode what is a fickle fan base. Today's SS derby drew more paying customers than several of the Tahs games this year. that is unsustainable.

I reckon Wicks have got it exactly right. Start him in 2's & take it from there. Kellaway is lucky the rules stipulate that Tabs contracted players are permitted to play 1's only. I'm a long term critic of Horwitz, but he was very strong both on & off the ball v Rats.

    Waratahs 2018

Seems like something a failed coach in third division subbies might think is a good idea. Perhaps the emptiest gesture of the year, remembering that he sent them all off on holidays during the playoffs..... Maybe he be better off showing them the highlights of the GF before every fitness session...

I was struck by how many high shots there were, No wonder those of us that are of that vintage, are all walking around with broken noses and scars on our faces...

That's pretty much the issue, you're defending the appointment, but you don't know what the appointment entails. The ARU are so fucking inept, they don't even bother writing a job description that is tailored for their boy, they just appoint him and get him to make it up as he goes.

^^^^^^lets start with a list of everyone in the world. Step 1 cull everyone who isnt aware of the sport/doesn't know the rules. Step 2 cull anyone who has previously admitted they are a crap coach. Whoops, still have millions of applicants, yet we have culled the guy they found in the carpark...

I was responding to your assertion that the ARU didn't have the budget to afford outsiders with appropriate skills. In what way is his business successful? They haven't been going long enough to develop anyone. The reality is that those currently in the tent, shouldn't be. Just look at our...

I don't believe that Kafer will be providing his services at a fraction of the cost that a better qualified person would demand. I also don't believe that the ARU's finances are so precarious that they can't afford the wages of the best credentialed candidate for this role. It's just a...

So he is saying he's been totally on the wrong track for two years, and they need to do everything differently next year, but he's still the best man to do the job? If he'd cleaned out the roster last year( or been announcing new signings over the past year, demonstrating he had a long term view...

Not really. As much as I would love it,I don't expect it to be an open game. So it will be a coin toss.
