    Michael Cheika

It's hard to say that sacking Link was a bad idea at the time. His contract was up, the team had played poorly in the first half of that season, it was in everyone's interests to make the decision on his position mid-season, because the SF position was in play. Of course they played the house...

    SuperRugby Waratahs V Crusaders, Rd 10 2012

Of course you are feeling bullish, mark_s, it is Friday. As can be seen in the following diagram, with state of mind on the Y axis, those afflicted with supporting the Tahs feel remarkably positive on Fridays, sometimes supported by evidence, sometimes not. Positive feelings peak early in the...

I'm keen also, depending on time.

Gradual Unfurling of New Wallaby Coaches

"...similar to Cricket Australia's contracting process..."? I thought that system had been thoroughly discredited by both the cricket team's performance over the last couple of years, and the Argus review. A great system for keeping the golden boys happy, when you have them, but seriously...

    A very tacky development

A Very Tacky Development? Are we referring to gossiping about which schoolboys use steroids? Give it a rest. The discussion about the merits and pitfalls of sponsorship of schoolboy rugby was interesting. Gossiping about steroid use embiggens nobody.

    A very tacky development

I see from the website screenshot above that it's the "Investec Schoolboy Rugby Sevens", so perhaps all the teams have the logo? Though that would entail them organising jerseys for all the teams just for this comp, which seems unlikely. Definitely tacky for a school like Scots.

    A very tacky development

Most junior clubs have sponsors on their jerseys, and are grateful for the money. How is this any different?

    Waratahs 2012

I don't think the ARU, the Tahs or the Reds are keen on the State of Origin idea, because it dilutes the value of the Super 15 franchises. What does "We Are Red" mean if there's another "true" Queensland team running around?

    Gregan v JON

In the unlikely event of Gregan successfully getting one over JON in a boardroom battle, I'm imagining him getting up to leave with a quiet "four more years, John...". Or however long his term is.

    Waratahs 2012

Juniors do get free tickets to games, accompanying a paying adult, and I've taken advantage of that several times over the past couple of years with my son. But free tickets don't fill stadiums - people have no motivation to turn up if someone just shoves a free ticket into their hands...

Waratahs v Highlanders - Super Rugby round 3

That stadium does look very impressive. I imagine it must be pretty loud? Although I do see they claim it to be the only undercover natural grass stadium in the world. This one in Arizona would probably claim the same title: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Phoenix_Stadium which...

    Reds TV

Yes, after listening to Ruggamatrix for a while, I realised the main reason I listened to Tah Talk was to learn more about the players, the coaches, how the team worked, the strageies, that kind of thing. Lost that when Djuro left the Tahs. Link is of course very interesting to listen to, though.

    Reds TV

Note to Tahs players - who I'm sure read everything to do with the Reds...Bring back Tah Talk! Far and away one of the best ways to connect people to a team. Less effort than video work, and more insightful.

    Waratahs 2012

Good to see Bruce Ross isn't the only one who'll defend Tom Carter in print: http://www.foxsports.com.au/rugby/super-rugby/nsw-waratahs-winger-drew-mitchell-jumps-to-defence-of-teammate-tom-carter-over-sledging-row/story-e6frf4qu-1226286872442 The print version of this article in today's...

Sydney Football Stadium vs ANZ/ Olympic/ Telstra/ Homebush

I see in an article in the Daily Telegraph today that part of the redevelopment of the SFS, sorry, Allianz Stadium, will be to add a food court and associated facilities. Sounds promising, although one would assume it would just be the most over-priced place for food this side of Sydney Airport...

    Waratahs 2012

I'm often amazed at how often kicks are poorly chased, not only by the Tahs, but by any number of professional teams, so I'm happy for them to drill this hard.

    Waratahs 2012

FP, that's the only explanation that I've heard that makes any sense. Barnes must feel like the Australian Rugby Coaches Union has black-banned him - what does he have to do to get consistent starts as fly-half? He's regularly the best player on the field when coaches begrudgingly put him there...

Sydney Football Stadium vs ANZ/ Olympic/ Telstra/ Homebush

Historic ground, sure, but even worse than ANZ in terms of distance from the action. SCG also not going to pay out the money ANZ does to attract games. The SCG sees plenty of action during winter with the Swans.

Sydney Football Stadium vs ANZ/ Olympic/ Telstra/ Homebush

The AFL showed the ideal way to fix the conundrum of basing a team west of the city without the embarassment of a mostly empty ANZ stadium - tip in the money to rebuild the smaller showground stadium next door to ANZ into a "boutique" stadium. Nice to have that kind of dough. But this is a...
