The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Shelts - everyone outside of Australia sees what a huge piece to the puzzle a fit Pocock is for the Wallabies. As good as Hooper is, I just don't think he carries that same fear factor as Pocock does. As an AB fan, I'm always fairly confident that the ABs can limit Hoopers overall impact on a...

    Refereeing decisions

there was the small case if a red card last week.... flat pass this week, not checking the intentional knock down.....SA refs in SA is just stupid.....hopefully we get a few go our way soon..... Sent from my iPhone

    Refereeing decisions

Apparently the Blues won 3 penalties from their game last week doing the exact same thing....this week they are penalised. Apparently there was also an intentional knock-down by a Cheetahs player that Kaino asked the ref to take another look at but he refused to do so. Fuck these SA refs...

^^ I'm sure there are more guys signed or who are pretty much committed to Aus rugby past 2016......which is good news for you blokes cos that team would get hammered...

Has he played as well as Genia did at his best?

Fair enough. I wonder what someone like Brian O'Driscoll would have traded to have beaten the ABs at least once in his career?

    Aussie Player Exodus

It's not just about age but also where they are in the Wallaby set-up and what they have achieved. I can understand older guys looking to maximise their final few years - that's pretty standard. But Genia and Higgers aren't really old. And I would have thought that they would have seen...

    Aussie Player Exodus

No one can blame them but as I have been saying, it means the Wallaby jersey isn't holding them here like it might once have. Like the AB jersey does for a lot of NZ players.

    Aussie Player Exodus

So what you're saying is that the lure of the Australian jersey, being a Wallaby, doesn't have enough lure for Australian players to stay here. It's not a big enough deal for them? That is exactly what I've been saying.

    Aussie Player Exodus

Errrr no. its the same in NZ as well - we dont select from overseas so comparing the Black Caps to the ABs (what you did) is pointless. And it is simple. Again, money isn't everything. Is the Wallaby jersey enough for Australian players to stay here for? Not for White, Higgers etc Sent from...

Those are pretty tangible intangibles I'm starting to understand why rugby is fucked here though Sent from my iPhone

    Aussie Player Exodus

The intangible benefit is the knowledge that one is good enough to represent their country. Or being considered the best player or the top hooker or flanker or whatever...not a societal status?!? You don't think Kaino could have hot more $$ staying in Japan or going to Toulon? Money isn't...

i don't know to be honest but I don't think, on average, the difference is that much. Someone like McCaw mite be on a huge pay but the difference between a Nic White and a TJ Perenara wouldn't be I reckon....in fact White is probably on more given how many Wallaby games he played last year But...

I'd find it hard to believeABs stay for some kind of societal status. The ugly side of rugby being so popular is what happens when you lose. Just ask Taine Randell or John Hart Sent from my iPhone

But we aren't talking about fans. Do Wallaby players and aspiring Wallaby players value the jersey as much as their AB counterparts do? If they do then money isn't everything.... Sent from my iPhone

    Aussie Player Exodus

You don't think that a few of the current ABs have been offered bigger money to play in France or Japan or somewhere else in Europe? And yet they have stayed.....

Again....money's not everything. I hope Kaino stays..... http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/all-blacks/65454153/Sabbatical-could-keep-Jerome-Kaino-on-NZ-Rugby-books
