They are fit enough by the time they play, the issue is the amount of extra work they have to do to get there.

It was the same in 2007, i had young kids and took very little interest in it.

We are going to debt fund it rather than equity fund it. It seems McLennan has secured the $90m and presumably he’s run the numbers on what the equity funding would cost and the long term implications of the IP sale and gone with the former. That’s what he is good at.

    RWC: Pool C - Wallabies v Fiji - Monday 18 Sep 2am AEST

Agree with all the sentiment above, I think the meme reflects the opinion of the person who made it, not that of either of the people who are in it.

Almost. We have a once in a generation golden opportunity to right the ship coming up. Officially that starts in 2025 however I believe it starts at 5am on Monday morning - we need to flog Wales so that we at least make it through to the quarters and start generating some interest in the sport.

Its because we are complacent. Our coaches just have the 'our players are better than yours' attitude and spend most of the time practicing sophisticated game plans that we aren't good enough to execute. Fitness obviously isn't ignored completely but it's not given enough of a priority.

The general commentary from Hammer & Waugh, and I saw something from Joe Roff the other day as well. Harrison also is quite vocal about it. Being vocal and actioning aren't the same thing of course. It does seem we are heading towards centralisation though, which hopefully would instill a...

Note that Robbie Deans referred specifically to the 'federated' system, the inference being that it's systemic of that model. Hence the move to a centralised one. On that, I knew the past three coaches have identified the fitness issue, I didn't realise Deans had as well. Link is the missing...

Definitely insightful: “In Australian rugby, that risk level is always highest when players come out of Super Rugby and into the Wallabies, and because their fitness is considered woefully inadequate for Test rugby they get flogged for a few weeks. Without sufficient rest, multiple players...

"Shock' would definitely be an overstatement if it happens considering most thought he deserved to be dropped from the starting xv after the Argentina game but not thrown completely on the scrap heap. However, as you allude to it could just be a Canberran journalist assuming he is next in line...

    RWC Pool C - Australia v Wales - 5AM 25 Sep AEST

You'd think it would be either him or Porecki, with whichever one it's not being named vice captain along with Slipper, and Kerevi reserve captain of the backs and Valetini reserve captain of the forwards.

Random question - who would be in charge of Wally now that Jorgo is gone. Nongoorr?

    Wallabies 2023

I was pondering on number 1 when I first read it as well. Its likely considering all the negative press this week. Bringing in Foley might look like panic stations but Ikitau would be easily explainable as he is returning from injury, so I reckon he’s been told advised to do that.

    RWC Pool C - Australia v Wales - 5AM 25 Sep AEST

You are right but there isn’t much we can do with the current available personnel to correct that, is there? Except to try Gleeson over McReight. All we can really do is try to fire up our backline attack with as much ball as we are able to secure, and use our set piece as much as possible.

    RWC Pool C - Australia v Wales - 5AM 25 Sep AEST

Understand that sentiment, it’s certainly safer. I reckon we need to go the other way though, try to get a lead then bring Donaldson on to control things from the back, take Suli off then

    RWC Pool C - Australia v Wales - 5AM 25 Sep AEST

So thinking about this game, we need to at least level up with Wales, so we must win and deny them a bonus point, or at least get one ourselves in the process. Wales will be playing boring test match rugby and happy to win by a point, so I’m thinking we are going to pick a team that’s designed...

I wouldn’t be surprised if that is the reason they are reconsidering Pietsch, but I doubt they would put him straight into the 23, Eddie will have already selected that for Wales and I doubt Jorgo was in it. Article also says Foley is still in Europe.

    Wallabies 2023

Uelese is just out for Wales right? Pietsch (if true) is in for Jorgensen - not that I'm advocating that - but if Uelese is out for the QFs then they'd bring in another hooker for him then. Reading the Doran article it sounds like Pietsch was to come in but that's now being 'reconsidered'...
