Gilmore looking to make his interim coaching role a full time one. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/interim-waratahs-coach-puts-hand-up-for-full-time-role-20210407-p57h54.html I have to say, it seemed that whenever coaching was mentioned on Saturday it was Gilmore's name that came up...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Whether it combined TT or Super Rugby Au/Ao plus TT it all needs to be conducted with a commercial focus. So in that sense. Whichever model doesn't actually matter. As for the format. What would be more valuable to broadcasters. The ability to sell 5-6 games a week or just 2?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Would apply to either to be honest. But I get the sense we'll be seeing a combined TT competition next year. It honestly doesn't matter which. It needs to be built with a commercial mindset. Even if we have a TT competition there's really only one place it can grow in regards to teams. And it...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

A TT competition needs to be more than just an extended trial for the respective national teams. It has to be run with a distinctly commercial mindset. It should be about if there is a viable candidate bidding they should be taken on the merit of their bid and not which national interest they...

    Australian Rugby / RA

That's the model going forward for the likes of Super Rugby in my opinion. Especially if PE comes on board. I'd be happy for both RA and NZR to have a seat at the table but it needs to be a separate body operating the competition as a going concern. Only then will we see the game at a domestic...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I actually think PE could help alter the thinking behind the TT competition long term. Don't think for a minute that the likes of the NRL wouldn't like to have multiple NZ based teams if they could manage it. Problem is they've got so many teams in NSW and need to service Qld more so at best all...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

It doesn't necessarily means Friday night games every week. May be once or twice a season. Instead more 5pm games on a Saturday as opposed to 3pm. And maybe the odd Sunday. As for professionalising the clubs. I don't think it's possible in a broader sense. There are just too many to make it...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

The trick will be convincing the clubs that if they want to be seen as a viable stand alone product then they are going to have to change how they do some things in order to achieve that. The issue is. At least from my experience. Many just won't want to accept change.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

It's going to take more than a season to get things moving in the right direction. What this season is about is determining a baseline. Hopefully come TT time we'll see a bit of a bump and we'll see the averaging over 90k by seasons end. I'll take that. The goal will be from their to look to...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

By exactly 1k. The Reds/Force game drew 66k a couple weeks back. Did the average and the games are drawing 81k on average. With regionals and Stan the average is probably between 150-180k I reckon.

Super Rugby RD 7 - Waratahs v Brumbies

Both need to add some physical presence in the off season. But yeah. Should have been playing much earlier.

Super Rugby RD 7 - Waratahs v Brumbies

Did something I haven't seen much of at all this season. And that is take the initial hit and still move forward in contact. That was actually pretty impressive.

Metcher had been playing for Seattle in MLR. Poidevan and Goddard are currently in the US with LA. Sio has previously played professionally. None of them I think would be in contention. The only one I'd like to see given a shot is Icely.

    Waratahs 2021

I think there's definitely room for subbies/juniors and the district clubs. But it requires each to properly define what they wish to be. From my perspective, its at the subbies level where the overwhelming bulk of the participation should be focused. While at the district level should be about...

    Waratahs 2021

My experience is that there's still a fair bit of the schools mentality in the clubs as well. Not as much but it's still there. To the point where as someone who came through via the club system you had to be so much better than the GPS/CAS schoolboy recruit in order to even compete. Also...

    Waratahs 2021

If not consciously then certainly unconsciously for sure. To the point I am beginning to doubt they are actually capable of viewing the game beyond their very rigid terms of reference. Which is as Quick has suggested based solely around a select few institutions.

    Waratahs 2021

Finished watching it. What concerns me is that throughout the entire process no one addresses any of the core underlying issues within Rugby in Sydney and more broadly the state. There's mentioned of recruitment and retention. Of the pathways bringing young guys through etc. But it's all very...

Oh, he mentioned Western Sydney. I'm just giddy with excitement. Then pretty goes back the same old rubbish.
