    Where to for Super Rugby?

The season is twice as long as Super Rugby. Which is where they draw more revenue.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Which is exactly what I was alluding to any such structure being a Cup comp.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I was ruling out a rehash of the previous Super Rugby format. A Cup comp. would run alongside Super Rugby Au not in place of it. It would be similar to Europe with domestic leagues and the Champions/Challenge Cups as a bonus.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Nah. It will be some form of Cup comp. The structure and teams for the new pro league should be announced late this month/early next month.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Another twist on this could be to look to involve 4 of the Japanese teams and run something akin to how the 7s WS is run. Four pools of 4 and teams qualifying for the Cup/Shield/Plate and Bowl dependent on performance. Means most teams will get at least 4 games.

Australian Bid for 2027 World Cup

I seriously doubt they're actually targeting 2027. It's more a statement of intent. They would be far more serious about 2031. This would give MLR 9 more years to build their league which is headed in the right direction.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

One of Melbourne based guys (I can't recall exactly who) highlighted what was going on behind the scenes a couple of weeks back. Good to see it come out of the CEO's mouth.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Marino's in the media stating that RA are looking to bring the NRC back in one form or the other. F@#k yes.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Not join Super Rugby but play in a cross border competition. The new Japanese league have in previous statements have expressed their desire to play in such a competition.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

    Short answer is. Yes.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Top League is no more. Moving from the corporate model to a new professional league from next season. And they've already expressed interest in cross border competition.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The other model that includes the Japanese would work well if you want a final. Split the teams into essential 3 divisions. Top 2 from Aus/NZ in the Cup, the next two in the Shield final two in the Plate. Invite the top 3 Japanese teams to start. One in each division. That would provide each...

Holy shit. It's been a long time since I've seen a post from you. Welcome back. Yeah, not sure what the President XV team will look like.

    Shute Shield 2021

Frankly, outside of the call for the 4 and 3 Grade/Colts teams much of the details in the agreement make sense for a competition wanting to be semi-professional. I don't have an issue with it in that regard. That being said. This highlights the total lack of interest the Super Rugby has in anything west...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

There's also the World Tens Series that's scheduled to run from Oct. 28. Apparently running an actual series this time. Completely based in Florida and supposedly also being professional.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

There's a planned launch of a professional 7s circuit in the US in their autumn. Premier Rugby 7s. Will feature 6 men's and 4 women's teams. They are stating that they will have equal pay for both men and women and have already signed a number of the US men's and women's 7s squads.

Australian Bid for 2027 World Cup

Definitely will have a significant degree of Govt. backing. Was the reason for much of the pitch around economic impact from my perspective. The average punter doesn't care but if you can convince a Govt. to put up $250m for a $2.5b return then you're getting somewhere.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

They should now look to go hard for the rights to the big Euro Soccer leagues.
