Let me put it this way, because of the manipulation of the village comp I don't believe most of MNZ should be considered for Sydney selection. This weekend has removed any doubt. No stand-outs that I could see.

I find it a little odd. If I were selecting I would like to see one on one match ups as well as performance over as many games as possible, particularly in the case where there may be little between the front runners for a position.

Something I don't get about Sydney selections is they are announced straight after the last game on day 2. In other words day two is a dead rubber as the squad has been picked at the very least after the first two games. So what is the point of the regionals, is it part of the selection process...

My preference is to maintain the village club comp but as you say the trend is towards district comps so perhaps dividing the comp from under 16's is the way to go.

Understand what you're saying HJ, the only problem is it puts public school kids at a disadvantage and two pathways allows talented kids a second chance if they're not getting recognised in their school comp and visa versa. As far as volunteering for SJRU duty that's all well in good but I...

The problem I have with this HJ (aside from the cynical manipulation of the rules) is that it’s at the expense of kids at the village level who miss games according to whether the likes of Chatswood need a bogus game or two to qualify. It hardly encourages kids to stay in the game.

Eastwood did there best to loose every game Azurri, you cant drop the ball 3 or 4 times a game and expect to compete. Very disappointing. I'll be backing Penrith to beat Gordon - but then who isn't?
