    Australian Rugby / RA

He was given substantially more resources than his predecessor, and improvement has been marginal,if at all. If you are suggesting that he wasn't allowed to pick his own squad, that's down to weakness on his behalf. 7s squads are filled by leftovers by all the major player. Its a proving ground...

Let's just put this in context, this organisations last CEO's idea of efficiency was to create additional senior management positions that reported directly to him. The widespread cynicism as to the efficacy of certain roles are based on years of poor results and mismanagement

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2018

You watch much junior league? They ALL have the same mindset, reduce errors, complete sets. That means actively discouraging some kids from passing the ball. I know a kid playing Toyota cup that was abused at 1/2 time for giving the final pass for their teams only try. He didn't have a passing...

That's not been my experience. They are quite literally coached not to pass these days. The term passing licence has unbelievably become common. Tackling? That was true years ago, if anything the current tactic off 'catching' in the NRL is actually a negative for developing players IMO.

Whoops, yeah $3M, I s'pose the Council is used to being involved in litigation ( I read that they are the most litigated council in the country), so being stuck in the middle of a damages case won't upset them as much as it would me. Looking at the 7s guys after 2 tournaments on artificial...

    Shute Shield 2018

didn't someone quote $13M as the cost of the project? I don't think the Beasties want to goad the council into seeking a commercial return on this investment....

half baked is a most generous assessment IS. I'd normally be outraged that a candidate with that resume is unsuccessful. However Gloria's treatment of the facts around it,as usual poison my view, so I'm pretty much against anything he proposes. Jones is very much a proponent of the view that...

Junior rugby based on weight classes

My criticisms of the program are: The participation rules regarding weight/age were released by the ruling body AFTER most junior clubs registration days. Assesment is mandatory for any kid outside the parameters for his age group. Why? Surely it makes more sense that it's automatic, with the...

Junior rugby based on weight classes

Actually, the guidelines say the big kid has to be 91kg AND taller than 188 cm. FFS Raelene, ring up a cousin in NZ and get them to slip you a copy of how they do it. .....and sack everyone at RA that has their fingerprints on this process.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I believe people are much more accepting of losing a game to a hard and fast rule that makes no sense, than to losing due to a refs "interpretation" that went the wrong way

    Where to for Super Rugby?

7's have a zero tolerance policy. Everyone knows if your a defender, if you touch but don't catch, you're going to the naughty chair. There are no longer any disputes at all regarding these rulings.

Nah, he signed 3 season deal in Japan(over 4 years) with the full knowledge of the ARU, no hidden agenda from him. I can understand some people think the ARU are chumps for agreeing to the deal, as I can also understand some people think that the ARU were correct in executing a "cunning deal"...

Super Rugby Round 2: Waratahs v Stormers

Seems to me the Tahs need to rely on speed/combinations/skill to overcome a more physical Stormers side. That's something that's more likely to work in round 4 or 5, not their first hit out for the year. At $1.35 I'll be having a big crack against them.

That is the most generous view of the circumstances. But at least it is arguable. There's bigger fish to fry for any RA critics. I'm just waiting for Raelene's first fuck up, for it to really kick off. Again. Be a shame if my pitchfork got rusty :)

Junior rugby based on weight classes

If the kid is a little bigger, he's fine. the kids who are substantially larger, are the few that will be affected. But it's really not that big a deal. Some of my kids were bottom age in their year at School, some were top age. They all had a mix of mates in each of these age groups. That meant...
