Is the TMO no longer required?

It's a good suggestion D-Box, for grounds where the big screen isn't big enough, but the technical difficulties give me a bad feeling.

    Waratahs 2014

Hmmm, the first one is on 23 Feb - it's not always such fun sitting in the eastern stand of the SFS when it's baking hot...

ASICS partners with Australian Rugby Union from 2014

Plenty of the Wallabies would have their own boot sponsorships, I think, which would take precedence over the Asics deal, IS. It does take away somewhat from the look of the uniform when there's a rainbow of boot colours. It would be nice if they could be as consistent there as the rest of...

Time to revamp cards to Yellow, Orange, Red ?

Yeah, but that's MY point - history and practice show that it is actually rare for the score to blow out due to a YC. I think it's a very useful punishment - it is seen as a serious condemnation of the offender, and must be very painful for them having to watch for 10 minutes, but in reality it...

Time to revamp cards to Yellow, Orange, Red ?

10 minutes is really not too long. It's surprising how often there is little impact on the scoreboard whilst the offender is sitting on the sideline. Keep it simple, YC and RC, and don't hesitate to go YC for cynical fouls.

James O'Connor signs with West Harbour. WTF?

Big mistake by the Swans if true. They've been exceptionally effective in cultivating a clean, hard-working image. This move endangers that. And rumours of a NINE-year contract? Arruferreal?

    Ewen McKenzie: Wallaby Coach

I wouldn't be surprised if the current assistant coaches at the Wallabies are contracted until the end of the year, and Pulver has simply said to Link that they can't be sacked and paid out. So he's stuck with them. I'd be very surprised if there's not a clean out at the end of the year.

    Waratahs 2014

Agree the reports from coaches have been very good - they read as though they were actually written by the coach and not by some media intern - direct and to the point. To get nostalgic for a moment, I really miss the Tah Talk podcast. From when I was only a peripheral Tahs fan, it really got...

    Ewen McKenzie: Wallaby Coach

Agree Froggy. I keep thinking of that Tahs game against the Brumbies in about Rd 4 this year. After that game, I thought Cheika was doing great things for the culture of the team, but would come up short on the field. The Tahs looked disorganised, flat and low on confidence. And that was after...

    Springboks v Wallabies, Newlands, September 28 2013

HJ, I'm sure I've seen a Test referee penalise a player for jumping into a tackle, vaguely referring to it being dangerous. I can't remember any other details. For a horrible moment after Hooper's tackle, during the TMO review, I thought the ref may have given Kuridrani a YC also, as he was...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

Now that’s a very interesting question Spieber. The Presbyterian church is not as hierachial as the Anglican or Catholic churches, with the church administration having less power to direct operations within local churches. “Presyter” comes from the Greek meaning elder, and the distinctive...

    Jake White Quits Brumbies

I certainly can't criticise the guy for putting his family first. The line about having his coaching prospects blocked while he was here in Australia - really? I can't imagine heading back to Sth Africa under these circumstances improves his international coaching prospects. And the line...

    Jake White Quits Brumbies

Seconded HJ. Somebody has to give Louden a go.

    Waratahs 2014

Yes, I really liked what he said in that interview. I'd love to see the Tahs recruit a guy who comes straight out and says that he's always wanted to play for the Tahs. Refreshing.

    James O'Connor misses flight

Well, looking at the Rugby Heaven website this morning, there are no fewer than five articles criticising JOC (James O'Connor) from the last day or two, including three opinion pieces and two looking the consequences of his behaviour. I confess I felt the first twinge of sympathy for him - which I quickly...

    Questions for Link

What is the role of a national head coach?

    Questions for Link

What does he think are the top 1 or 2 things he learnt from each of his stints at the Tahs, Stade Fr and the Reds?

    James O'Connor misses flight

Pretty sure the "clean slate" comment meant that Link wasn't going to punish him immediately for his past transgressions, such as missing the team meeting which happened only a couple of days before Link became coach. It would be stupid for him now to pretend that this was JOC (James O'Connor)'s first offence.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Live sport is very attractive these days to FTA networks because it makes people watch live TV, not skipping ads and not downloading. Ch 10 must feeling out in the cold with no NRL and no AFL. They'll be closely watching the success or failure of A League soccer on FTA this year, I'll bet. Bill...

    Waratahs 2014

To be fair, Michael Foley demonstrates that a very good forwards coach does not automatically make a good head coach. Perhaps Link should pick him up as Wallabies forwards coach when the Force tire of him.
