we need a quick start to the second half.

jones better have a good start to the second half or Cheika will probably hook him and he could say goodbye to his world cup chances

ok people. its 12:44am and I'm 3/4 of the way through a bottle of Glen Moray. Looks like I'm riding this out til the game starts. Ive got my Foxtel IQ as insurance to protect against my inevitable pass out

I dont think Timani offers nearly as much in general play as Skelton. Great in the scrum but pretty poor in the line out. I'd say (im hoping) by mid 2015 Skelton will have passed Timani by.

Mr Doug, let it go dude. You made a sweeping generalisation that had some merit. Someone pointed out that your comments do not apply to everyone. Just tip your cap and move on.

I'm a big fan of the Irish. When I lived in London I lived with an Irish bloke. Top guy. Spent a bit of time in Belfast for work. My experiences socialising with Irish people have all been positive and I see a lot of similarities with Aussie. I always wish them well.... except tonight

Big opportunity for Jones. By my calculations, save for the inevitable injuries, there is maybe 1 spot in the RWC squad up for grabs in the backrow. A big performance could cement his place in the squad

Just got home from a BBQ. Pretty drunk already. Chances of me being up for this game are looking slim

This is a good, accurate synopsis of the current situation. The best way forward might be to see if we can convert Fardy to lock during the Super Season...Simmons use to be a weak scrummaging lock, so there is hope that you could fix Fardy's deficiencies in that area (I here from people on this...

to be fair to cheika, i don't think he actually picked the squad

coverage starts at 3:15am (2:15am QLD time) and bookies taking bets til 3:30am. Suggests to me a kick off slightly after 3:30am

    Ireland v Australia

Yeh the 3:30am kick off certainly does blow. I'm leaning towards getting a few hours sleep before and after the game, but then again I have been known to drink booze until sunrise. I wouldn't bet against it.

Just who do you propose should be there instead of Skelton? The reality is that we had only 2 locks with test experience available at the start of this season. Carter and Skelton were chosen to be blooded. Both have struggled at times but I'd argue that both have also shown that they can be...

I must respectfully disagree with those who thought Skelton should be left out. I don't think anyone is happy where he is at currently, but the idea is to build him up in time for the RWC. The more top level experience he gets, the smoother those rough edges on his game will become. I have...

    G&GR MOM - Australia v France - Paris 15/11/14

3.Kepu 2.Slipper 1. McCalman HM: Simmons, Fainga'a (the poor line-out puts these two just outside the top 3 imo)

Agreed. I'm not sure he's a test 6 in his current form. Needs to add something to his game. Although with the right players he could be serviceable. A backrow of Pocock/McMahon/Palu could work ok

Yeh I really like the team named, but I kinda feel like its time to give Cooper a shot. He was very effective against the Northern Hemisphere teams last year and has looked decent in his cameos off the bench. we arguably have more firepower than ever at 13,14,15 and if you want them to get the...
