    Wallaby Watch 2014

Beale doesn't lack courage in defence, he's just technically inept. Watch his lack of footwork and balance when he defends head on. He doesn't get his body into a position to be able to move his feet quickly so many times he's left lunging in mid air when a step is put on him.

Good luck to Cowan for getting his chance. I wouldn't swap him for Robinson at Super Rugby level though. Maybe its a case of Ewen knows what BR is capable of but interested to find out what Cowan has to offer in squad workouts. Great squad selected.

    And your point is?

The dire financial state of the ARU, combined with the big $$$ offered in Japan and Europe will make it inevitable that overseas players will need to be considered for Wallaby selection. The challenge will be managing it effectively so the numbers returning are limited. Rugby like soccer is a...

    Wallaby Watch 2014

One key factor overlooked is the value team mates place on a player. You can't put stats around it but there are certain players that inspire confidence in the whole team they play with. Others inspire their playing partner e.g. other centre/lock/prop/backrower. These players are often not the...

NRC Law Variations - have your say

Very true and a penalty awarded in the 79th minute is worth the same points as one given in the 1st minute.

    Refereeing decisions

I'd like them to go back to Richard Loe in I'd like them to go back as far as Richard Loe's effort in Brisbane.

NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2014

Seriously, wtf is going on in this thread?

NRC Law Variations - have your say

I'm interested in the position you have taken. You don't appear open to consider any changes to rules for the NRC. Meanwhile there have been many rule changes introduced by the IRB over the past 10-15 years. Some have been for player safety, others speed up the game, while a number help either...

I'd like to see Horwill get some help and support. No one can challenge his heart or commitment whenever he plays for Qld or Australia, but right now something is missing. Not sure if it's physical or mental but he's not the player he has been or clearly wants to be again. Let's pay him back by...

    Reds 2014

It's interesting watching the Reds. The players with limited natural ability seem to show the most passion and ticker, while the gifted players seem to be just going through the motions. Losing is in many ways like winning...it becomes a habit, and the combined existing coaching staff and...

    NZ Match Reports

Agree with Red Card for Deysel, what he did was unacceptable. But why wasn't the Crusader No 7 given a Yellow Card for provoking the incident? He was holding back a key defensive player inside their own 22. Overall I thought the ref handled an aggressive game well.

Summary- JOC (James O'Connor) needs to learn how to become a 'giver' and not just a 'receiver' both on and off the field.

Excellent synopsis of what Beale offers in Version 2014.

    CAS Rugby 2014

Just remember not all boys turn 18 in Year 12. Some or all of the U16's could be in Year 11, not Year 10.

Forcefield, not sure if you do any coaching but your proposed message to Horwill and Simmons is probably not the way to go. Imagine playing your first test in a new season and running out with that message ringing in your ears. That aside I like your pack with Horwill out and Jones in.

NRC Law Variations - have your say

Let's cut through the BS, rugby is struggling like hell competing in an overcrowded Australian sport's marketplace. The AFL and NRL are unfortunately eating our lunch at the moment by most measures. They control their games and it shows. We are in the entertainment business and the NRC actually...

    Reds v Crusaders

It just seems that Super Rugby has moved on from the Reds. Not sure if it's the coach or players but the 2014 playing squad has only really changed by 3 players from their winning team of 2011 - Samo, Ioane and Higginbotham. Which other Super rugby franchise has had such little turnover of...

NRC Law Variations - have your say

What a great opportunity to invigorate the game outside IRB constraints, reduce negative tactics and increase the entertainment factor. - No kicking out on the full from inside your 22. - Time off for scrum resets inside the last 5 mins of each half. - Try a rugby ball that doesn't travel so...

    Concussions and Protecting Our Players

One would hope that behind closed doors, a delegation of Toulouse players and/or their leadership group would confront the coaching staff about this unacceptable lack of care and concern for the welfare of one of their team mates.
