SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) Trials: QLD Reds v Western Force, Ballymore, 3/2/24 @ 3:00pm AEST

I hope so. Really looking forward to having a Reds gane ti talk about. Not expecting it to be pretty first game up but just seeing the teams go round will be good.

    SVNS Series 2023/24

Missing both M Levi & Terita takes away a lot in terms of our strike power. Although Du Toit is still absolute class and will probably relish getting a bit more time (I’m assume that is how they’ll cover Levi - unless they just try and over power Ireland and give Nasser more time).

I’m with Adam. Whatever happens will happen but as fellow fans I’d like to think we have some compassion for the Rebels fans and avoid discussions of picking up their players.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Not really much I can contribute here but I do want to express my sympathies to all the Rebels fans on here that you are having to deal with this. I can only hope that either the reports are overblown and/or a solution presents itself quickly.

    Wallabies 2024

Is there a reason they can’t play outside the International window though? It wouldn’t seem to be a huge issue for either national side as it really just locks out your Europe based players.

Forgot Bell. I agree on him. Anyway - I’ve taken it off topic.

    Queensland Reds 2024

Based on the last 12 months & change of coach I don’t think anyone could be considered a definite starter for the Wallabies. Valetini probably the closest, but even he was down on form last year and I don’t think you could say is a definite.

I think you mean Teddy Wilson at 9.

According to the front page it’s his last year on contract. I guess if it is his last year with the Reds will depend a lot on fitness and form for him and others. Whenever he’s been fit his been very competitive. But injury has certainly been a problem last year. He’s not the player he was but I...

That’s not good to read. Let’s hope it’s not too bad.

Petaia said in his interview that the players were practicing being able to be affective in any spot across the field. I get it in theory but will be interested how it works in practice.

    Queensland Reds 2024

It was a bit sad last year to see a guy who once was up there with Shane Williams for pace to get run down last year by a back rower.

So, less than two weeks before the first trial. Anyone on here have any insight to training/race for positions? Will we see any bolters push themselves to the front of the queue? A couple of points of interest for me - - who wins the race for the 10 jersey? I feel like this is a decisive year...

They seemed to talk to both last year.

    Queensland Reds 2024

I get what you’re saying completely. In most cases I’d agree that having a clear captain just removes any ambiguity. Leadership can still be shared across a group. But having said that (and at the risk of white knighting) they do seem to work well as leaders. I was watching a reply from last...

From what I have seen he is suited to fullback, but plays wing because Tyrone Green is the established fullback. In saying that I guess if he is not being re-signed that says something in itself.

Pretty sure O’Connor decided a few years ago he didn’t want the role as he wanted to focus on his game. Personally I’d prefer Faessler & Wilson focus on their games too at this stage. McReight seems highly regarded as a leader, but Wright seems to be a good captain already and I am not sure...

From what I saw last year McDermott & Wright were good choices. It’ll be interesting if they go for co-captains again or just one of them.
