    Waratahs V Force - Superugby Rd 4

This result was down to the playing group, beyond doubt. However: 1) The 'management' (coaches and administration) select the playing group. ie who to offer contracts. See other threads for more on that topic. 2) The 'management' (administration) are responsible for promoting the game, the...

    Waratahs 2013

Sorry WJ, not buying that. The Tahs recruited Elsom (giant mistake) and let Mowen go (giant mistake). Our list management has ranged from ok to shocking, particularly with mid-tier and junior players. Mumm at 6? Not really, he's struggling to hold down a lock position now and his confidence...

    Waratahs V Force - Superugby Rd 4

Yes! And not only that, they seem to be going out of their way to do it in a cooperative way with other codes - offering to supplement Melbourne's sport lovers with a delicious slice of rugby, rather than saying you must watch rugby and only rugby or you may not attend the rugby. Eg promoting...

Bruce, where were these tickets promoted? I commented to someone after the game that I haven't seen any promotion for the Tahs of late. Nothing from ads on telly down to signs on the backs of cabs. I'm genuinely interested to know where it was promoted.

It was a bit under 15,000. Accurate from what I could tell at the ground, unlike some figures in the past.

    Women's Rugby Union

That's freakin' disgraceful! How in the hell is the game meant to grow, or even survive, like that? It's pretty damning that the boys' club at CA are better at supporting women's sport than the ARU. At least they have been pushing for column inches and some radio/telly coverage. :(

    Scrums 2012

By the way, that is a dig at the Super and International referees - I actually think it's by and large refereed much better at lower levels, for whatever reason.

    Scrums 2012

It might. But to be honest, I suspect that it wouldn't take too long for those coaches/players who were inclined to find other ways to collapse or otherwise deliberately illegally slow/disrupt opposition ball. I'd prefer to see at least one full season with a steady, consistent call of...

    Sydney Colts 2012

How is it wasted, Tahboy? If Uni folded tomorrow, there would still be a whole bunch of talented young footballers, and there would still be clubs in a position to offer more to them than others. Whether that is training programs, the odd scholarship, cash payments or any other incentive. The...

Actually you need to read more closely Moses. Ali Brigginshaw, for instance, is doing awfully well for a woman born much closer to your namesake, around about the day that Jesus allegedly was. That makes her contemporaneous with other such rugby luminaries as the Emperor Augustus and Confucius!

    Scrums 2012

As a prop, I enjoy the hit. I also enjoy seeing two opposing forward packs applying the hit and then the heat. But I can understand why you feel that way.

    Scrums 2012

I'm with Topo. Given that another factor in more scrums coming to fruition has been the tendency to have shoulders above hips (to avoid the 'hingeing' calls we all loved last year) you're more likely to have scrums come up than down, and that's a lot safer. I've never seen a front rower hurt...

    Women's Rugby Union

Great point, Cat. I reckon GAGR can get behind it by asking a few of the prominent menfolk rugby identities on twitter to support it...put pressure on the ARU that way...

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

Look at the recent records of the two sides against the ABs...look at who came first in the 3N, and who came last. Then maybe re-evaluate your opinion.

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

By definition, the referee's word is the whole of the law. Ergo, whatever he says the laws are, they are that day.

Say It Ain't So!!! McCaw may be GONE...

Chuck McCaw laughs at your axe. He smirks his superiority as your feeble axe blows fail to permeate his cloak of Darkness, before stealing your balls and crouching over the corpse of your dignity.

    Competing for the high ball

I agree that there were two incidents in the game today where players were taken out. My issue is guys not looking at the ball. It's pretty fookin' obvious in that situation that you're NOT competing for the ball, just hoping to put off/injure an opposition player. As to whether it's an issue...
