    Waratah Cup & Shield 2012

Hey Empire, totally agree mate. The ACT comp needs to be developed. I think Marist should have showed some solidarity with the old enemy and not played in the Waratah either. We all know the real final used to be between Marist and Eddies anyway. Generaly Eddies would come away with the points...

Auggies by 50+. The difference between teams like Auggies and the ACT teams is huge. Eddies, Marist, Grammar who ever, it wouldnt matter they would all get pumped. None of them offer 'incentives' or try to lure a team of polynesians any more. They all just play with the cattle they have got...

John I Dent Cup and ACT competition - 2012

Nothing schoolboy about shaking hands, before or after the game. I was always taught that shaking hands was a manly and courteous thing to do. Only a true meat head would ignore and disrespect somebody who held out their hand to them.

PS the advantage of this? eight clubs in the senior comp again and no need for a bye.

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2012

Will we ever see a time when Norths may be strong enough, and producing enough juniors to stand alone again? Surely with both Uni's now playing rugby they could be strong enough without Norths propping them up. Uni was once upon a time solely based out of ANU and were pretty strong then. When...

Hopefully your right. Seems odd though they would play trials against some good schools, and some not so good in preparation for their season and pay more attention to a 7's comp? In any case, as I said I hope your right and that they are a competitor this year.

Where do you see Eddies finishing FTS? I have been told Marist are awful. Havent seen them play, but heard their trial form has been somewhat ordinary to date. Its hard to beleive they put more emphasis on winning some mickey mouse 7's tournament rather than getting prepared for the season...

I have heard that. Marist got beaten by St Gregs on the weekend, not sure how they went against St Peters. I have heard they were a joke against Gregs and probably wont even make the four. Eddies, grammar and vikings the favs I hear.

May I add, I dont really have a problem with it but I share the sentiments of empire in that sharing the wealth a little and developing good even competition would serve everyones best interest for the development of rugby in the ACT instead of just those living south of Kambah.

When did they stop? They were paying guys match payments up to 15 years ago. No one was on a sign on or contract or anything like that, but players who started or played off the bench for Vikings circa 1997 - 2000 were copping quids of around $150 - $200 each per game. Some of their bigger name...

Absolutely correct. Vikings and Qbn have run their clubs like businesses (and good ones at that), other have been run by thievefs, drunks and ex footballers who everyone thought was a good bloke so 'he can run the club'. This is why Norths went down the drain many moons ago, Royals went broke...
