Yes, but this position specifically? I suppose that observation was made in light of my above paragraphs. There wasn't much evidence, to my eyes, that we needed another set of hands in the set-up to deal with 'off-field' things. We've got Ben Whittaker at the moment doing High Performance, so...

There's a tactic that you use in politics when you want to announce new policy or infrastructure - create the problem, and then solve it. Basically you want the public to know something needs to change before you actually do it. You let them come to the decision that a new policy/train...

The Australian Rugby Foundation is that, WCR. Basically a big donation slush fund that is put towards various causes - women's rugby, schoolboy rugby (they are funding the current O/S tour I believe), few other things. Chipped in more than $1m this year, I believe. .

Johnson in, and the introduction of a 3-man selection panel. That's it, it seems. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/johnson-to-become-wallabies-director-of-rugby-and-selector-20181217-p50mp2.html

The more I read the more I'm convinced that it's not about money, it's the fact that they can't find a suitable alternative to replace Cheika. The word is they have offered the job around, but it appears they haven't found anyone to take it - understandable given we're only 6-7 months from a...

The appointment of Larkham would basically be an admission of two things: a) Cheika can no longer continue as coach, and b) There are no international quality coaches available at the present time. So what they will do is appoint Larkham on an interim basis until the World Cup, and either he...

Could it be that Larkham will be given the job only for the World Cup, after which it will be given to the prodigal son of Australian Rugby....... Eddie Jones.

I remember this try quite vividly (starts at 0:56). Just a glimpse, sure, but a few nice involvements:

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Interestingly one of the recent articles (can't recall where) said that in all of the post-season reviews, the bloke who received the loudest endorsement from the playing group was Hooper. It could perhaps be that we internet peons may not know what we're talking about? .

It was not exactly 'great', but I was very much encouraged by his stint at 12 for the Wallabies in the June series last year. Was aggressive in defence, and proved a handy second playmaking option. .

Fair bit of this floating around. Have heard the same. I reckon the odds are shortening that Cheika is gone. .

I'd throw a name like Morgan Turinui in the hat. Yes he's a privately educated Sydneysider, but he's played and coached at a high level (spread across multiple Aus teams, and overseas). Non-anglo background, and still slogs it out with the Classic Wallabies and does a heap of work at the...

I agree the appointment of Waugh is symptomatic of a few wider issues the game faces. But it does make total sense to have an ex-player on the board. It's a skill-set that should be there given the decisions the board has to make. Waugh is not the right player, clearly. .

The problem wasn't him not answering questions, it was holding the presser in the first place. It's the old rule of media - don't open your mouth unless you have something to say. .

    Waratahs 2019

I didn't see anything in the article that was more than pure speculation. The Tahs 'won't rule it out'. I'd be surprised if they signed him. He's a good player but is he worth the risk? Watch this space, I suppose. .

I actually think there are a few similarities between Skelton and Ratu/Nadolo. This is speaking with absolutely no knowledge of either player, so take this with a grain of salt. But I wonder if both needed to get away from NSW to find a bit of maturity and some personal growth. It's easy to...

Could Cheika and White possibly work together? I recall White and Eddie Jones doing so pretty successfully for the Boks. Not sure either could put their egos aside to do it, though.
