My comment is this...the exclusion of Sam Mete ( view) from all of the GPS sides says a lot about the process.. The kid has been outstanding all year...although I will say great call on Clancy in 1's.. He has shown great class all year...

    NSW U16 - schools, NSWJRU / SJRU / CRJU 2013

Pretty sure McGregor played NSW schools 16's last year and he didn't play in state champs this year due to 1st XV commitments at view, so there was no match up at the gf last week. So it would be fair to assume that they will ultimately end up both playing in the national 16's at 10 for sjru and...

yep true enough, certainly plenty of options across the park.

Maybe your right, but the one time that anyone would genuinely think that England played better was in an absolute bog behind a huge pack going forward..any conditions that don't require a snorkel to play in McGregor has been head and shoulders..one of my scouts in QLD tells me McGregor ripped...

    NSW U16 - schools, NSWJRU / SJRU / CRJU 2013

Pretty good side, although it is hard to see England getting the nod over McGregor..great player, but McGregor has had the run of it from last years Sydney and NSW sides, in the NGS and playing 1st XV at View, and playing very well from all reports..Travers probs best option, but Heaton from...

Having seen all the prospective 10's either trial or play on the weekend, the 2 form 10's are Clancy (shore) and McGregor (view) . Both are quick, good on their feet and create for players outside them. McGregor ( huge boot) won't likely be considered as 1st year in the 1's and in yr 10.. But...

The View side, while young isn't that inexperienced..at least 8 of the side played in the firsts in 2012, with a few others having experience in the 2nds. Most of the sides seem to have a reasonable mix of yr 11's or under age boys in their sides..So agreed the View team is youngish, but they...

    NSW U16 - schools, NSWJRU / SJRU / CRJU 2013

SJRU have slowly eroded their own credibility, no one has done it to them.. Hugh I suspect that the focus in those ages may shift towards 7's rugby rather than looking to add more layers to the current format. 7's development will have to be where the ARU sees bang for their buck. The sheer...

    NSW U16 - schools, NSWJRU / SJRU / CRJU 2013

Hugh, certainly agree with that call. If the SJRU side doesn't truly reflect the SJRU system, then by all means make up of the teams should be changed. I think that on a previous thread it was mentioned that the ARU wanted to take the tournament to a NSW 1 and 2 format, but the SJRU got all out...

    NSW U16 - schools, NSWJRU / SJRU / CRJU 2013

I believe that the Country sides are always picked ahead of the state championships. They have their country week tournament and select the side then, so the players form at the state championship is pretty much irrelevant. In my view , with the exception of GPS where they enter 2 sides to the...

Guys - long quotes of the previous quote just take up space. Quote the section of the post you want to deal with or mention the post number. Thanks Ed Hugh, not sure you should assume that those of who are new to the site, are new to club or school rugby..While I totally get your point...

also the teams are also travelling to Armidale for their TAS fixture once in the season..so while Sydney traffis is a bit problematic, Armidale to Sydney is an even bigger stretch....

not sure there's any great animosity from the schools side..just a healthy dose of lack of recognition...the ones who it is tough on is the boys trying to do both. CAS N/S trial on Thursday and back up for a sharp performance on saturday morning at the state champs, tough call.!

Of the 10 rounds that the GPS 1sts and 2nds play..it seems from a quick look that the 3rds are out of step and playing about 3 games at different venues from their 1st and 2nd's teams. this could mean that in some of games the schools may be looking to their respective U16 teams to provide back...

CAS 16's squad should be announced in the next day or so, with training scheduled for next Tuesday and then a game for CAS North v South on Thursday. Brilliant timing with the state championships on the Saturday. No doubt a few district rep coaches will be eager to see their troops get through...

Below is off the CAS website inferring they will play the Norths v South 16's this weekend..while I havent heard of the squads yet, they must be close to naming them.. 16s - A North Harbour and South Harbour team is selected to trial for CAS 16s team. The North v South match is played prior to...

It seems the key skill to being a league winger is to be completely bamboozled by the second man play / second man play come in off your wing, get no body, and have the opposition score effectively unmarked in the corner... When it happens once, fair enough a bad read, when it keeps happening in...

Got th esame feeling with Deegan and O'Shea..Deegan looked a bit disinterested at 12, and O'Shea looked like he was unconfortable wearing Deegans 10..I can see that Joeys are probably trying to accommodate the best 2 inside backs they have in the same backline, but that can be counter productive...

This years comp will be a moving feast for all the sides given it is the first time the schools have had to deal with the realities of 2 rounds. It will be more like tournament rugby where the ability to be up each game and to keep your best 15 fit for the duration of the comp will most likely...
