Round 4 : Rebels v Reds. Friday Night (Melbourne)

Wonderful game. Can see plenty of improvement but great to see them back up last week with a good win. Very sad for Henry though. I know it was only two weeks, but you could see why they had such great wraps on him.

    That’s terrible. Poor bugger

Vunivalu making some good metres but I’d love to see him get some ball at the end of a backline shift

Round 4 : Rebels v Reds. Friday Night (Melbourne)

I feel like (hope) that have back to back games against the top two teams will be an advantage to the Reds. There is a risk of fatigue - especially given back to back 6 day turn arounds but it is early in the season so I’m hoping that won’t be a factor. But having to play at that higher octane...

    Wallabies 2024

Yeah - that’s the bit that got me. Well, one of the many, many things that got me.

    Queensland Reds 2024

Yeah - you’re right. I guess it was just at that time that we were talking about dynasties but, behind the scenes, things were already changing for the worse. In reality I don’t really remember much of the specifics other than we did continue to be competitive for a couple of years.

I don’t want Petaia or Vunivalu break dancing. Injury waiting to happen.

Hopefully we don’t then follow that up with 2012-2014.

    Queensland Reds 2024

It’s too early to say. The games so far have been very positive but still with plenty of room for improvement. But teams will also only now be starting to see patterns in how Les has them operating and teams will start working on breaking that down a lot more. We also have very young...

Round 4 : Rebels v Reds. Friday Night (Melbourne)

Two good teams. And 4 weeks in so should be expecting things to be starting to click. Winner should at least be in the top 3. Should be a cracking game.

    Queensland Reds 2024

Must admit I though he dipped enough at the time and also though the ball carrier dropped his height a bit - but, still thought he was very lucky at the time. If neither of the above are right (and I’ll assume that’s true) fair enough. Doesn’t help the Reds but it is what it is. More than...

    Queensland Reds 2024

Agree - but the only super team that doesn’t have any real old heads at the moment is NSW and Bell & HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes), along with Porecki, do now have a decent body of work behind them. I’m sure they’d like a bit more depth but Thompson-Stringer and Ross aren’t rookies. Force are in a hard spot but that’s...

    Queensland Reds 2024

We’ve got a current Wallaby tightheads who is still young and one of the best up coming young props already in our system. There always needs to be a production line but I don’t think that’s our position of immediate need

Round 3: Reds vs Chiefs, 6:45pm AEST - Saturday 9th of March @ Suncorp

Haha - years ago I sat in front of one of those guys at Ballymore. Just shouted ‘Red’ frequently at obscure times during the game. Got to admit I wasn’t a fan.

    Qld Premier Rugby 2024

I think there will be a period of frustration/adjustment before we get to the increase in running rugby. And I believe that is what the overseas studies showed. I can’t comment on what you saw and how the refs rules on the games you were at but I’d have thought most of Lima & Collin’s tackles...

    Queensland Reds 2024

I don’t watch much league these days but, from what I’ve seen the Billy Slater effect has steered teams towards players who have massive engines and can get all over the field. Not saying Petaia can’t do that, but not sure it would be best use of him. I’d figure he’d be more likely an option at...

Round 3 Brumbies v Force Canberra 9 March

If you look at my original reply to Shiggins, what I responded directly to was his claim that Toole punched Potter in the head and that they needed to take action on an accidental knee to the head when Potter had fallen to knee height. I’m still not convinced the above photo shows what you...

    So not a punch then?

Round 3 Brumbies v Force Canberra 9 March

Those photos don’t show a punch to the head. Look - I watched the replays and I don’t think Toole made contact with his head. He was going for the ball and tried to attack it over his shoulder. If you think there was head contact - fair enough. The photo on the top right kind of looks like...

Round 3: Reds vs Chiefs, 6:45pm AEST - Saturday 9th of March @ Suncorp

After watching the game again I’m still confused by the comments that Grealy isn’t a winger and that Campbell has really fallen off and is subpar.
